Samsung delivered Android 13 to Galaxy devices through One UI 5 and later One UI 5.x updates. The stable rollout began with the Galaxy S22 series in October 2022, then expanded by model and market through 2022 and 2023, with some regional schedules extending into 2024. Android 13 is now a historical release: check your exact model and installed software version rather than expecting a new rollout. Availability differed by country, carrier, and hardware variant.
What Samsung called Android 13
Android 13 is Google’s operating-system version; One UI 5 is Samsung’s interface and feature package built on it. Later revisions, including One UI 5.1 and 5.1.1, also use Android 13 on supported devices. A Galaxy can therefore report Android version 13 while showing One UI version 5.0 or another 5.x release. Samsung’s One UI 5 overview describes it as available on Android 13.
When the Samsung Android 13 update arrived
There was no single worldwide release date. Samsung began the stable One UI 5 rollout with the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra in October 2022. Its subsequent roadmap placed newer foldables, S21 and S20 models, Note20 models, Tab S8 tablets, and selected A-series phones among the late-2022 groups. Additional phones and tablets were scheduled into 2023; some lower-end and carrier-specific releases appeared later in regional schedules, including into 2024.

Those dates describe rollout plans or availability in particular markets, not a promise that every device received the update on that date. The historical rollout coverage records the early roadmap, while Samsung’s Latin American schedule notes that model lists and dates could change and that updates could be paused for emergency adjustments.

Which Samsung Galaxy phones received Android 13?
Samsung’s published One UI 5 model families included the devices below. Treat this as a guide to model eligibility, not a guarantee for every regional, carrier, or special variant. Samsung’s Irish overview and Latin American schedule do not list precisely the same combinations.
Galaxy S
- Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra
- Galaxy S21, S21+, S21 Ultra, and S21 FE
- Galaxy S20, S20+, S20 Ultra, S20 FE, and S20 FE 5G
- Galaxy S10 Lite
Galaxy Note
- Galaxy Note20 and Note20 5G
- Galaxy Note20 Ultra and Note20 Ultra 5G
- Galaxy Note10 Lite
The standard Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ should not be confused with the Note10 Lite: the cited Samsung One UI 5 list identifies the Lite model, not the regular Note10 family.
Galaxy Z
- Galaxy Z Fold4, Z Fold3, and Z Fold2
- Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Flip3
- Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the original Galaxy Z Flip
Galaxy A and XCover
Regional Samsung lists included A-series models such as the Galaxy A73, A72, A53 5G, A52, A52 5G, A52s 5G, A51, A51 5G, A42 5G, A33 5G, A32, A23 and A23 5G, A13 and A13 5G, A04s, and A03s. The A03 also appeared in some regional schedules. Inclusion was not identical in every country or for every carrier variant.

- Galaxy Tab S7 FE and Tab S6 Lite
- Galaxy Tab A8 and Tab A7 Lite

Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, and carrier editions can have separate firmware and timing. Use the model number, not just the retail name, when checking a particular tablet.
Why eligibility depends on your exact Galaxy
A family name alone may not settle whether a particular device received One UI 5. Check these details in order:

- Retail name and model number: Find the model number under Settings → About phone or About tablet, or on the original packaging. A name such as “Galaxy S20 FE” may cover distinct variants.
- Connectivity and edition: Identify whether it is LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi-only, carrier-branded, or another special edition.
- Country and firmware channel: A device bought abroad may follow the update channel for its original market rather than its current location.
- Carrier status: Carrier models may wait for carrier approval after an unlocked release.
- Installed Android version: Some devices may have shipped with Android 13; seeing Android 13 does not by itself prove that the phone upgraded from an earlier version.
Samsung’s regional schedule says supported functions and timing can vary by model, country, and network operator. There is no safe blanket rule that all phones from a given year or all devices with a particular processor received the update.
What changed in One UI 5
One UI 5 brought visual, privacy, camera, and day-to-day changes, but not every function was available on every model. Samsung cautions that One UI features and timing vary by device and Android release timing.
Personalization and everyday use
- Expanded color-palette choices, with up to 16 themes described in Samsung’s overview, along with more lock-screen and wallpaper controls.
- Custom call backgrounds and stackable widgets.
- Changes to notifications and quick settings, plus Android 13 platform features such as per-app language support on compatible devices.
Privacy, camera, and Gallery
- Privacy and security dashboard improvements, and Maintenance Mode to help protect personal data when a device is handed in for repair.
- Camera changes including Pro-mode guidance and histogram support, and easier one-handed zoom.
- Gallery and editor additions such as photo watermarks, expanded customization and stickers, and text extraction from images or screenshots.
Some productivity and cross-device changes arrived in later One UI 5.1 releases rather than the original One UI 5 rollout. Samsung’s feature overview describes the One UI 5 features; availability can still depend on model and market.

How to check the installed Android and One UI versions
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone or About tablet.
- Tap Software information.
- Read Android version, One UI version, and Android security patch level. The build number is also listed there on many models.
Menu wording can vary by device and software version. If you need a model-specific check, Samsung’s software-update support instructions provide the official starting point.
How to check for an update safely
- Connect to reliable Wi-Fi and make sure the device has adequate battery power. Back up important data before a major software installation.
- Open Settings → Software update → Download and install. Labels can vary slightly by model.
- If an update is offered, review its version and download size, then follow the on-screen instructions.
- Check Samsung Members notices for model- and market-specific rollout information. Samsung’s regional schedule said schedule or device-list changes could be communicated there.
For a computer-based option, use Samsung’s official Smart Switch information and confirm that your device and computer are supported. Smart Switch is not a way to make an unsupported phone eligible for Android 13.

If Android 13 does not appear
A missing update does not by itself prove that a phone is unsupported. Check these likely causes before concluding that the rollout is unavailable:

- TYPE IT IN. TRANSFORM IT FAST: Enhance any shot in seconds on your smartphone by using Photo Assist¹ with Galaxy AI.² Add objects, restore details, or apply new styles by simply typing or tapping
- MAKE IT. EDIT IT. SHARE IT: Turn everyday moments into something personal with creative tools built right into your mobile whether it’s a special contact photo, custom wallpaper, an invitation or more³

- FIT EVERYONE IN THE SHOT: Group selfies are easier on your Samsung phone with a wider front camera⁴ that captures more of the scene, so no one gets left out of the moment
- The rollout did not reach the device’s country or carrier channel, or the carrier has not approved it.
- The device is imported, or its model number differs from the version shown on a general family list.
- Samsung paused the rollout temporarily, including for an emergency adjustment.
- The phone is on beta software, has modified or rooted firmware, or has insufficient free storage.
- The update is already installed and the confusion is between the Android version and the One UI version.
Confirm the model number and region, install any offered prerequisite updates, restart the device, then check Software update and Samsung Members again. On a carrier model, ask the carrier whether its firmware release is available. If the official computer update route supports the device, Smart Switch is another option; it cannot guarantee an update that is not offered for that variant.
Avoid downloading firmware packages from unverified sources or flashing a different region’s firmware. Manual flashing can erase data, cause boot failures, interfere with security-sensitive apps or warranty service, and disrupt future updates. Custom ROMs are unofficial advanced projects, not Samsung-supported One UI upgrades.
Samsung’s update policy and older models
In February 2022, Samsung announced up to four generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades and up to five years of security updates for selected devices, including the Galaxy S22 series, S21 series (including S21 FE), Z Fold3, Z Flip3, and Tab S8 series. It also said devices outside that four-generation group could still receive up to three generations of One UI upgrades. These were maximums for selected products, not a promise of four Android upgrades for every Galaxy or of a common global release date. Security-update frequency and duration could vary by product and market. See Samsung’s software-support announcement.
Age alone is not a reliable test. Samsung’s published list included devices such as the S10 Lite, Note10 Lite, and Tab S6 Lite while not including every similarly aged model. Verify the exact model and its support history instead of inferring eligibility from launch year.
What to do if your Galaxy cannot get Android 13
If Samsung did not include the exact variant in its supported schedule and no official update is offered through its channel, there is no supported way to force One UI 5 onto it. Keep using the device only if its remaining software support and app compatibility suit your needs; consider a newer supported phone or tablet if security updates have ended or essential apps no longer work. A delayed carrier rollout is not, by itself, a reason to replace a working device.
Samsung’s four-generation policy applied to selected products, so verify the current official support status of any replacement candidate before buying. The same distinction matters for the device you already own: an Android-version upgrade and ongoing security patches are separate parts of software support.
