One UI 6 problems are not the same on every Galaxy phone: reports depend on the model, build, country, carrier, apps, and accessories. This tracker covers issues reported after One UI 6 and its Android 14 follow-up releases, while distinguishing community reports from problems Samsung has documented. Check your exact software build before trying a fix; a complaint posted after an update does not by itself prove that One UI caused it.

What this tracker covers—and what its status labels mean

One UI 6.0 is Samsung’s Android 14 generation. Later releases, including One UI 6.1 and 6.1.1, can change or fix behavior, so “One UI 6” alone is not a precise diagnosis. A Galaxy S23, S21 FE, A54, or carrier-branded phone may receive a different build or behave differently from another model.

Samsung’s public support pages provide troubleshooting steps, not a single exhaustive public database of One UI 6 bugs. The issues below are therefore reported symptoms, not a list of defects confirmed to affect every device. Samsung community indexes contain posts about battery, connectivity, camera, fingerprint, notification, charging, and app problems on different models, but do not establish a platform-wide cause.

  • Repeated community reports: Similar complaints appear in multiple user discussions; this does not mean Samsung has confirmed a defect.
  • Model- or app-specific report: Evidence concerns a particular phone, accessory, app, or software branch.
  • Reported after update: Timing is known, but causation has not been established.
  • Possible design change: A layout or interaction differs from an earlier version; that alone is not a malfunction.
  • Confirmed or fixed: Use these labels only when Samsung documentation or a clearly identified later build supports them. The reports linked below do not establish a universal fix for the listed symptoms.

For each issue, a useful tracker entry should record its status, exact One UI version and build, affected model, region or carrier, symptom and trigger, workaround, any documented fix, evidence, last verification date, and confidence. Without those details, a tracker cannot reliably tell whether two people are describing the same problem.

Check your exact Galaxy version and build

On most Galaxy devices, open Settings → About phone → Software information. Record the model, One UI version, Android version, build number, security patch level, and—if the problem concerns mobile service—the baseband version. Menu wording can vary by device and software version. Include your country and carrier when reporting network or Wi-Fi Calling problems.

To check for a newer phone update, open Settings → Software update → Download and install. Samsung’s update guidance also notes that a stable internet connection, sufficient storage, and adequate charge are important when updating: Samsung update troubleshooting. Samsung also describes update-related tasks using Smart Switch: Samsung restart and update guidance.

Symptom What has been reported Evidence and status First useful check
Battery drain, heat, or standby changes Faster overnight drain, increased background use, heat, inconsistent runtime, or unusual battery statistics. Repeated community reports tagged on S21, S22, and S24 discussions; not proof of a universal One UI defect. S21 reports, S22 reports, S24 reports. Allow several charging cycles, then check Settings → Battery → Battery usage for an app or process using unusually high power.
Wi-Fi, mobile data, or Wi-Fi Calling Disconnects, weaker reception, changed data behavior, or Wi-Fi Calling that stops working. Reports vary by model and carrier; a carrier setting or network can be responsible. S21 FE discussions include connectivity complaints: S21 FE community thread. Check whether other devices have the same network problem; for Wi-Fi Calling, ask the carrier whether the line and device are provisioned for it.
Bluetooth connection or audio An accessory connects but has no audio, call audio fails while media works, or volume controls behave unexpectedly. S23 beta-era reports include Bluetooth audio complaints; broader model-specific complaints appear in Samsung community discussions. S23 One UI 6 beta discussion. Test a second headset, vehicle, or speaker; remove and re-pair the affected device.
Camera launch, focus, or image processing Camera app failures, blurry or dark photos, slower operation, or a perceived change in color and contrast. Community reports include S21 FE and other Galaxy camera complaints, but do not confirm a universal defect. Samsung community camera report, S22 community index. Check for app and phone updates; note whether the fault occurs in Samsung Camera, another camera app, or both.
Fingerprint recognition Intermittent sensor failures, a missing prompt, or behavior that changes after restarting. S22 community posts include fingerprint complaints; Samsung has separate troubleshooting for a later One UI 6.1-related fingerprint issue, illustrating why the exact sub-version matters. Samsung fingerprint troubleshooting example. Clean and dry the sensor and finger; test without a poorly fitted screen protector and re-register fingerprints if needed.
Notifications and incoming-call display Changed notification presentation or clearing behavior; reports also describe incoming calls showing a blank or incorrect screen. Community-reported, not established as a universal defect. Some appearance changes may be intentional or setting-dependent. Incoming-call and camera report, S21 FE discussion. Record whether the issue affects every call or notification, and whether a particular app or lock-screen setting is involved.
Quick Panel and Good Lock Controls are harder to reach, customization differs, or a Good Lock module produces an unexpected layout. One UI 6 beta and community posts describe changed layouts and module compatibility concerns; distinguish a new design from a broken control. Samsung community beta discussion, S23 user megathread. Update Good Lock and its modules, then test the default Samsung layout with Good Lock disabled.
App crashes, lag, animations, or visual glitches Apps freeze, animations stutter, icons or widgets render differently, or launcher behavior changes. Community reports span app compatibility and visual behavior; an issue confined to one app may be app-specific. A54 user report, One UI user experience discussion. Update the affected app, clear its cache, and test in Safe mode to check for interference from downloaded apps.
Charging, freezes, unexpected restarts, or boot loops Charging changes, unresponsive screens, reboots, or failure to complete startup. Community indexes contain reports, but these symptoms need device-level diagnosis and may indicate hardware or power problems. S22 index, S24 index. Back up if possible, check the charger and cable, and escalate promptly if the phone cannot stay powered on or shows signs of battery damage.

Fix problems in the safest order

1. Document the symptom before changing settings

Write down the model, country and carrier, One UI and Android versions, build and security patch, affected app and its version, exact trigger, and how often the issue happens. Note whether it began immediately after an update, whether it occurs on Wi-Fi, mobile data, or both, and what changed it. Save an error message, screenshot, or screen recording when practical.

2. Restart, then install relevant updates

Restart the phone. Check for a phone update at Settings → Software update → Download and install; update the affected app through Google Play or Galaxy Store. If Quick Panel customization is involved, update Good Lock and the relevant modules too. Samsung recommends checking app updates and compatibility for apps that crash or stop working: Samsung app troubleshooting.

3. Check battery use or clear the affected app’s cache

For battery complaints, open Settings → Battery → Battery usage and identify whether one app or process is driving the change. For an app-specific problem, open Settings → Apps → [app name] → Storage → Clear cache. Avoid Clear data as a first step: it can remove local settings, downloads, or sign-in state.

Battery behavior can plausibly fluctuate while apps or system processes adapt after an operating-system upgrade, but the community reports cited here do not establish that explanation as Samsung’s diagnosis for a particular phone. If drain or heat continues, use the battery-usage screen and report the exact pattern rather than assuming all post-update drain is a software bug.

4. Use Safe mode to test for downloaded-app interference

  1. Open the Power menu.
  2. Touch and hold Power off, then tap Safe mode when it appears.
  3. Try to reproduce the problem while downloaded apps are disabled.
  4. Restart normally to exit Safe mode.

If the symptom disappears in Safe mode, investigate recently installed apps, launchers, overlays, security tools, accessibility services, VPNs, automation utilities, and Good Lock modules. If it remains, a downloaded app is less likely to be the cause. Samsung’s Safe mode instructions and software troubleshooting guidance describe this diagnostic approach.

5. Reset only the settings related to the problem

For Wi-Fi or Bluetooth problems, Samsung’s US instructions give this path: Settings → General management → Reset → Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings → Reset settings. Saved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth information may be removed, so you may need to reconnect networks and pair devices again. For mobile-network problems, use Settings → General management → Reset → Reset mobile network settings → Reset settings. Menu labels can vary by device and software version.

6. Report a reproducible issue

When a report is more likely to be a One UI bug

“Reported after the update” is safer than claiming “caused by One UI” unless evidence supports the stronger statement. A system-level cause becomes more plausible when the problem started immediately after the update, is reproducible, persists after app updates and a restart, and still occurs in Safe mode. Independent reports on the same model and build—or an acknowledgment or fix from Samsung—add confidence.

Be more cautious about blaming One UI when only one app or Bluetooth accessory is affected, the issue disappears in Safe mode, a carrier service is involved, the phone has physical damage, or the behavior is a changed layout rather than a failure. An issue that begins well after the update may have another cause or an intervening app, carrier, or system update.

When to reset the phone or get help

A factory reset is a last-resort diagnostic step, not a guaranteed One UI repair. Back up first: a reset erases personal data, and it may not solve an issue caused by an app or a firmware defect awaiting an update. Samsung explains the data loss and limits of a reset in its factory-reset guidance; its software troubleshooting steps put other checks ahead of that option.

Contact Samsung or the carrier if the fault persists after updates and Safe mode, returns after a clean reset, or appears tied to cellular service or Wi-Fi Calling. Repeated restart problems also warrant support if the phone cannot complete startup; Samsung’s restart troubleshooting describes update checks, Safe mode, and escalation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Stop using the device and seek service for excessive heat, swelling, smoke, a burning smell, physical battery damage, or a phone that cannot remain powered on. If it reboots too often to back up, avoid repeatedly attempting a reset and contact support.

Keep a tracker useful over time

Because One UI 6.0, 6.1, and 6.1.1 and regional builds are not interchangeable, a useful tracker should date each verification and preserve the model and build scope. Update an entry when a later firmware or app version changes the symptom, when a report cannot be reproduced, or when evidence shows the issue is app-, carrier-, or hardware-specific. Do not call an issue fixed without identifying the build or app version and the devices for which the change was observed.
