To capture an entire X (formerly Twitter) thread in one image, first open the thread and tap Show this thread when it appears. On Android 12 or later, use the built-in Capture more scrolling screenshot if X exposes it. On iPhone, try Full Page from the screenshot preview, but Apple documents that feature for webpages such as Safari and does not promise it for an X thread inside the native app. On a computer, a thread-capture extension or a few overlapping screenshots can produce a cleaner result.
What “multiple tweets” means here
X describes a thread as a series of connected posts from one person. The instructions below are designed for that use case: several posts in one thread, saved as one readable image. Combining unrelated posts from different accounts requires separate captures and an editor; a scrolling screenshot follows one continuous screen.
Prepare the thread before taking a screenshot
- Open the first post in the thread, preferably in its own post view rather than only in the timeline.
- Expand collapsed content. X says threads with four or more posts can be truncated in the timeline; select Show this thread to display the connected posts.
- Scroll through once before capturing. Confirm that text, quoted posts, images and videos have loaded. If an image is still a gray placeholder, wait for it or reload before you capture.
- Decide whether you need the account name, timestamps, replies and engagement controls in the image. Native screenshots include whatever is visible; a desktop tool or editor gives you more control over cropping.
Android: use Capture more when it appears
Google documents scrolling screenshots on Android 12 and later for most screens that allow scrolling. Compatibility is not universal, so the important test is whether Capture more appears after the first screenshot.
- Open the expanded thread in the X app or a mobile browser.
- Press Power + Volume Down at the same time.
- In the screenshot controls, tap Capture more. If that button is absent, your device, Android build or the current X screen does not expose scrolling capture; use the fallback methods below.
- Drag the crop handles until the final post is included. Keep the top edge at the beginning of the first post and avoid including unrelated timeline content.
- Tap Save (or the equivalent confirmation on your manufacturer’s interface), then open the image and inspect the joins and text size.
If the thread stops early
Capture more can only extend a screen that the app allows to scroll. Return to the thread, select Show this thread again if necessary, wait for lazy-loaded media, and retry. If the option still ends before the last post, take two or more overlapping screenshots and join them manually.

iPhone: try Full Page, but do not assume it works in the X app
Apple’s screenshot guide documents Full Page capture beyond the visible screen and illustrates it with a webpage in Safari. The guide does not establish that an X thread in the native app supports one-tap full-thread capture.
- Open the thread and expand it with Show this thread.
- Press Side button + Volume Up on Face ID models, or Side button + Home on Touch ID models.
- Tap the screenshot thumbnail before it disappears.
- If a Full Page tab is offered, select it, review the preview, and save the PDF or image using the available share options.
- If only Screen is offered, save the normal screenshot and use overlapping captures. Do not keep retrying while assuming the X app will add a Full Page option; its availability is controlled by the app surface.
Safari versus the X app
Opening the public thread in Safari may expose Apple’s webpage-oriented Full Page control, but the result depends on how X renders the page and whether the thread is publicly viewable. A private or login-gated thread may not load the same way in Safari. Check the complete preview before sharing.
Desktop: use a thread-specific extension when you want a designed image
XThreadShot describes a Chrome and Edge extension that captures a post or thread, provides style controls and exports PNG. The vendor says it is desktop-only, processes captures locally and does not require an account. Those are vendor statements, not an independent test, so verify that the extension and its privacy behavior still match those claims before installing it.

- Install the extension from its current official listing in Chrome or Edge.
- Open the thread and expand it with Show this thread.
- Use the extension’s capture command for the post or thread.
- Choose its available layout or style settings, check that every post is present, and export PNG.
A desktop renderer is useful when you want consistent margins, a background, or a single long canvas rather than the exact appearance of the app. It can also fail when X changes its markup, when a post requires login, or when media has not finished loading.

This works on any device that can display the thread, but it requires a little editing.
- Capture the top section with enough overlap to identify the same line of text or image in the next capture.
- Scroll by less than one screen and capture the next section. Repeat until the final post is visible.
- Open the images in an editor that supports layers or a long canvas.
- Align the repeated content, remove the duplicate area, and crop away browser chrome or unrelated posts.
- Export at a size that keeps body text readable. Inspect every seam, especially across images, quoted posts and video thumbnails.
Overlapping captures are more reliable than trying to make two screenshots meet at an exact pixel boundary. They are also the practical answer when Android does not show Capture more or iPhone offers only Screen.

“Capture more” is missing on Android
Google limits scrolling capture to supported, scrollable screens. Confirm the phone runs Android 12 or later, expand the thread, and try the same page in a mobile browser. If the control remains absent, use overlapping screenshots or a desktop/API workflow.

The iPhone preview has no Full Page tab
Apple does not promise Full Page for an X thread in its native app. Save the normal screenshot, try the public page in Safari if appropriate, or switch to the manual fallback.

The thread may still be collapsed, media may be loading, or the capture surface may stop extending. Select Show this thread, wait for images, and retry. With a manual stitch, scroll in smaller increments and maintain a visible overlap.
Text is too small to read
Do not solve this only by shrinking the final image. Capture at the device’s native or retina scale, remove unnecessary margins, and split an exceptionally long thread into two readable panels when a single canvas becomes impractical.

A desktop extension produces a broken or incomplete result
Reload the thread, disable aggressive content blocking for that page, and wait for quoted posts and images. If the extension’s output still omits posts, use native captures or an API that can wait for a selector or network idle. Treat claims about local processing and account requirements as the vendor’s current claims and recheck its listing.

Quality and privacy checks before sharing
- Read the first, middle and last posts at the final display size.
- Look for duplicated lines, clipped profile names, missing media and visible seams.
- Crop notifications, unrelated replies and private account details that are not needed for context.
- Remember that a screenshot is a static copy. If the thread is edited, deleted or made private later, the image will not update.
- When using an extension or API, review its current data-handling terms and avoid sending private posts or authentication cookies unless the workflow requires them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one capture combine posts from different X accounts?
Not with a native scrolling screenshot, which follows one continuous screen. Capture the separate posts and assemble them in an editor, or create separate URL captures and combine the resulting files.
What should I do when a thread is too long for a readable single image?
Keep the posts in order but divide the result into multiple panels or pages. A shorter, legible sequence is more useful than one extremely tall image whose text cannot be read.
