The quickest way to save a webpage as a PDF is usually built into your browser. In Firefox, open the page, choose Menu → Print…, set Destination to Save to PDF, check the preview, and select Print. A browser extension is useful when you need article cleanup, element selection, PDF editing tools, or multi-page capture—not merely a PDF of the tab you are viewing.
Save a webpage as a PDF in Firefox without an extension
Firefox’s print workflow handles a normal single-page conversion. It also gives you more control than many one-click extensions.
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Open the menu button and select Print….
- In Destination, choose Save to PDF.
- Review the print settings and preview.
- Select Print, choose a filename and folder, and save the file.
Settings that affect the result
- Orientation: Use portrait for articles and landscape for wide tables or dashboards.
- Page range: Save every page or specify a range such as 1–3.
- Paper size: Select the size your reader or printer expects.
- Scale: Reduce scale when columns are clipped; increase it when text is unnecessarily small.
- Margins: Smaller margins can fit more content but may make the document harder to read.
- Headers and footers: Turn them off if you do not want the URL, date, or page title printed.
- Backgrounds and color: Enable them when color coding or shaded panels carry meaning.
- Format: If Firefox offers Simplified, try it for a cleaner article. Mozilla notes that Simplified disables printed backgrounds.
Always inspect the preview. Mozilla explains that webpages can be set up to look different on paper than on screen, so page breaks, hidden elements, shrinking, and missing backgrounds are normal possibilities rather than proof that Firefox failed. Adjust the settings or use a page-specific extension when the preview is not acceptable.

- Removing navigation, advertising, newsletter boxes, or other page furniture before conversion.
- Saving only a selected element instead of the whole tab.
- Using an article or reader mode with its own layout controls.
- Adding PDF actions such as commenting, signing, filling, or compression.
- Capturing several pages or a website structure rather than one open page.
Extension behavior is product-specific. Check the current store page, requested permissions, publisher identity, update history, and privacy disclosure before installing. A listing may claim that conversion happens locally while also declaring access to browser history or website content; treat both statements as relevant.
Chrome: use Adobe Acrobat’s extension
Adobe’s Chrome extension adds a PDF toolbar and context-menu actions for converting the open webpage. It also exposes Acrobat features for viewing, filling, commenting, signing, and compressing PDFs.
- Install or enable the Adobe Acrobat extension from Chrome’s Extensions management page.
- Open the webpage you want to convert, or refresh it if it was already open when the extension was enabled.
- Select the Acrobat icon in the browser toolbar.
- Choose the webpage-to-PDF action and follow Acrobat’s save prompt.
Use this route when PDF work continues after capture. If you only need a file, Chrome’s own print dialog may be simpler and avoids adding another permissioned component.

Extensions that select content or clean the page
Web to PDF – Save Webpage as PDF (Chrome)
The Chrome Web Store listing describes Full Page, Select Element, and Article modes, along with paper and layout controls. The publisher says conversion is local and that webpage content is not uploaded to a remote conversion service. That is a publisher statement, not an independent audit. The listing displayed version 1.2.8, updated August 4, 2026, and 854 users when indexed; those values can change. Its disclosure says the extension handles browser history and website content, so compare that access with your own privacy requirements before installation.

Print to PDF (Firefox)
Mozilla Add-ons lists Print to PDF by moris as a toolbar and context-menu print action with page-size and header/footer options. The listing reported 13,779 users, a 3.4 rating from 129 reviews, version 0.1.1, and a last update of August 6, 2022. Because that update is old, verify current compatibility and maintenance before relying on it. The listing says it requires access to browser tabs and data for all websites.
One page is not the same as an entire website
Most browser extensions convert the active tab. They do not automatically archive every link, chapter, or asset on a site. Adobe’s desktop Acrobat documentation describes broader capture controls: page levels, same-path or same-server limits, and adding captured pages to an existing PDF. Choose that kind of site capture only when you have permission to copy the material and a clear scope; otherwise, save the single page you actually need.

Troubleshooting failed or ugly PDFs
The PDF is blank
Wait for the page to finish loading, dismiss an interstitial, and retry from print preview. Pages rendered entirely by scripts may need the extension’s article or full-page mode. If the page requires a login, confirm that the browser session is authenticated before capture.
Content is cut off or columns overlap
Change orientation, paper size, margins, or scale. Check whether a responsive layout is switching at print width. A selected-element mode can be safer than forcing a wide dashboard onto portrait pages.
Images or colors are missing
Enable background graphics when available and allow images to finish loading. Firefox’s Simplified format intentionally disables printed backgrounds, so use the normal format when those backgrounds matter.

The extension icon is missing
Open the browser’s Extensions manager, confirm the extension is enabled, pin it to the toolbar, and refresh the webpage. Adobe specifically instructs Chrome users to open or refresh a page after enabling its extension.
A permission warning is uncomfortable
Read the current listing’s permission and privacy sections. If broad access to tabs, history, or website data is unnecessary for your task, uninstall the extension and use built-in printing instead.
The saved file contains only the visible viewport
Choose a full-page option if the extension provides one, or use the browser’s print preview, which lays out the printable document rather than taking a simple viewport screenshot. Long pages with lazy-loaded sections may still require scrolling or an extension designed to load deferred content.
