Instant Data Scraper can extract visible tables, lists, cards, directories and catalog pages in Chrome or Edge without writing code, then export the detected rows as CSV or Excel. The workflow is simple: open a page you are allowed to collect, let the extension inspect it, verify the detected columns and rows, and export only after checking the result. There is an important 2026 qualification: Web Robots says, “Instant Data is no longer owned, developed or supported by Web Robots.” Check the current Chrome or Edge store listing, publisher name, permissions and privacy disclosure before installing or relying on it.
What Instant Data Scraper does
Instant Data is a free, no-code browser extension associated with Web Robots. It looks at the page currently visible in Chrome or Edge, detects repeated records and fields, and offers an Excel or CSV export. It is best understood as a one-off or small-volume extraction tool, not a guaranteed crawler for every website.
Typical uses include copying product cards from a catalog, collecting names and prices from a directory, extracting a visible research table, or saving lead, pricing and market-research data for spreadsheet work. The extension can only work with the structure and content your browser can see.
Current support warning
Web Robots’ company product page states that Instant Data is no longer owned, developed or supported by Web Robots. That status can affect store availability, bug fixes, compatibility and privacy expectations. Before following an installation guide, verify the live listing and its last update, publisher identity, requested permissions and linked privacy policy. Do not assume an old extension listing is still maintained.

How to scrape a web page without coding
- Choose a permitted page. Use a browser-visible URL and confirm the site’s terms, robots guidance, privacy obligations and applicable law permit collection and reuse. Do not treat public visibility as automatic permission to republish personal or restricted data.
- Open it in Chrome or Edge. Wait until the records you need are visible. If a page loads more rows only after scrolling, expand the content manually and note that the extension may still miss records generated later.
- Start Instant Data Scraper. Open the extension from the browser toolbar and allow it to inspect the current tab. If the extension is unavailable or its permissions have changed, stop and review the live store listing rather than installing an unverified copy.
- Review the detected table. The preview should show repeated rows and column headings. Check the first, middle and last records, not just the first few lines.
- Edit the fields. Remove columns you do not need. Look for duplicated rows, blank cells, combined fields, truncated text, incorrect links, prices without currency and dates interpreted as plain text.
- Export the file. Choose CSV for broad spreadsheet or data-pipeline compatibility. Choose Excel when the reader needs a workbook. Keep the original export unchanged and make transformations in a separate copy.
- Record provenance. Save the source URL, retrieval date and any filters or page state beside the file. This makes a later audit possible when a listing, price or article changes.
CSV or Excel: which export should you choose?
| Need | Choose | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Import into another tool, database or script | CSV | Plain text is widely supported and easy to version. |
| Hand editing, formulas or a workbook for colleagues | Excel | Preserves a spreadsheet-oriented workflow. |
| Long-term audit trail | Either, plus a metadata note | Neither format records the page URL and retrieval date automatically; store those separately. |
CSV has no universal agreement on delimiter, character encoding or date format. After export, open it with the same spreadsheet application your recipients use and verify accented characters, leading zeroes, line breaks and URLs. Excel can also reinterpret identifiers, dates and large numbers, so inspect representative cells before distribution.
Scraping listings, directories and repeated cards
Start on the page that contains the records themselves rather than a search form or navigation page. A directory card may place the name, address, category, rating and link in separate elements; a visual preview can merge them or omit hidden metadata. Check whether each row represents one entity and whether sponsored, pinned or featured entries are mixed with ordinary results.
Pagination
Instant Data’s researched material supports extraction from the current visible page, but it does not establish reliable automatic pagination. For a multi-page directory, capture each permitted page separately, save the page number in your notes, and deduplicate on a stable field such as the canonical URL. Do not claim that the extension handles every “next” button or session-based page.
Infinite scroll and lazy content
Scroll until the site has finished adding records, then wait for images and text to settle before inspecting the preview. Infinite-scroll implementations can recycle old nodes, load data only after interaction, or expose only a partial DOM. Compare the number of visible records with the exported row count. If the numbers disagree, manual collection or a purpose-built crawler may be necessary.
Quality checks before you use the data
- Row count: compare the export with the number of records you intended to collect.
- Headers: make sure each column has one meaning and that no heading is shifted into the first data row.
- Completeness: inspect short, long, blank and unusual records.
- Duplicates: test links or another stable identifier, especially after combining pages.
- Types: verify currency, percentages, dates, phone numbers and leading zeroes.
- Links: open a sample of URLs and check whether they are relative, redirected or tracking links.
- Changes: retain the source URL and retrieval date because a later visit can produce different values.
What can go wrong?
Dynamic rendering
Client-side applications may render records after the initial page load or only after scrolling, clicking a tab or selecting a filter. Wait for the content, repeat the action manually and inspect the preview. If fields remain absent, the extension cannot infer data that is not exposed in the page it can read.
Login walls and restricted pages
A browser extension does not grant permission to bypass authentication. Use only an account and workflow you are authorized to use, and check whether collecting personal information creates additional obligations.
CAPTCHAs and anti-bot checks
Do not treat Instant Data as an anti-bot bypass. A challenge, blocked response or empty page is a signal to stop and review the site’s rules or request an approved access method.
Nested navigation and layout changes
Cards with nested links, tabs or expandable details can produce merged columns or missing values. Test a small sample after every major site redesign. If the preview changes unexpectedly, do not append the new export to an old dataset without revalidating the schema.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBlank or duplicated exports
Refresh the permitted page, wait for visible records, reopen the extension and compare the preview with the page. Remove browser extensions that alter the page, and test a simple static table to determine whether the problem is page-specific. If the extension listing is unsupported, avoid downloading unofficial replacements.

Privacy, permissions and legality
Inspect the installed extension’s current permissions and privacy disclosure before granting access. A browser scraper generally needs permission to read page content; that permission can expose whatever is displayed in tabs where it is active. Avoid placing confidential dashboards, customer records or secrets in a tab while using an unverified extension.
A February 2026 privacy policy for a different product, No Code Web Scraper, says, “No Code Web Scraper runs entirely in your browser,” stores recipes and settings locally, and does not collect or transmit scraped data. That is product-specific evidence, not proof that Instant Data behaves the same way. Treat the two products separately and verify Instant Data’s own current disclosures.
Legality depends on jurisdiction, the site’s terms, the type of data, how you obtained access and what you do with the result. Before collecting, check terms of service, robots guidance, privacy law and contractual restrictions. Minimize personal data, protect exports and delete information you no longer need.
When a no-code extension is the wrong tool
Use a browser extension for a small, visible, mostly static job that you can inspect manually. Compare alternatives on five practical axes:
- Support for dynamic pages and browser-rendered content.
- Pagination and infinite-scroll handling.
- Transparent selectors and the ability to edit columns.
- Export formats and downstream delivery.
- Privacy, permissions and recurring-job support.
If the task is recurring, spans many pages, must run unattended, or needs delivery to a database or API, a managed crawler or an approved API is usually a better operational fit. Web Robots describes managed robots, browser-rendered crawling and delivery to databases or APIs, but current partner terms are not established here. Obtain permission and confirm current capabilities before committing to a service.

Practical decision checklist
- Is the page and intended use permitted?
- Are all required records visible in the browser?
- Have you checked the extension’s current publisher, support status, permissions and privacy policy?
- Did you inspect rows, headers, links, dates and prices before export?
- Can you reproduce the result with a URL and retrieval date?
- Would an approved API or managed crawler be safer for a recurring or high-volume job?
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Instant Data Scraper extract a password-protected page?
Only if you are authorized to access the page and the records are visible in your authenticated browser session; it does not provide permission to bypass a login.
Best Value
Does an export prove that every record was collected?
No. Dynamic rendering, infinite scroll, layout changes and missing fields can reduce coverage. Compare the export with the page and spot-check representative rows.
Should I use CSV or Excel for archival storage?
Choose based on your downstream workflow, and store the source URL and retrieval date separately because neither format automatically provides complete provenance.
The Bottom Line
Instant Data Scraper is useful for small, visible, permitted extractions when you can verify the preview yourself. Its current support status is uncertain because Web Robots says it is no longer owned, developed or supported by the company, so validate the live listing and privacy disclosures before installing. For recurring, multi-page or operationally important collection, use an approved API or managed crawler instead.
