Bubble can automate screenshots in three practical ways: install a marketplace plugin for a Bubble page, group or element; use a URL-oriented plugin for an arbitrary website; or call an external browser-rendering API. The right route depends on what you are capturing, whether the image must be stored in Bubble, and how much control you need over browsers, authentication and timing.
This guide shows how to choose and configure each approach, how to handle the resulting file, and how to avoid common failures in live workflows.
Choose the capture method before building
First identify the target. A Bubble group inside the current page is a different problem from a public URL such as https://example.com. Then decide whether you need the visible viewport or the entire document, and where the resulting image should go.

Capture a Bubble page, group or element with a plugin
1. Prepare the target element
- In Bubble, open Settings → General and enable ID attributes if the plugin requires them.
- Select the page, group or element you want to capture and assign a unique HTML ID, such as
invoice-preview. - Place the plugin element on the page and review its installation instructions. PDF & Screenshot Pro · BEP specifically uses an ID on the target and a plugin element in the action.
2. Trigger the capture from a workflow
Create a workflow event such as a button click, a custom event or a scheduled backend workflow. Add the plugin’s screenshot action and select the target ID or element. Configure dimensions, image type and full-page behavior where those options are exposed by the installed plugin.
3. Decide what happens when the file is ready
- Download: send the generated file to the current user.
- Bubble storage: save the file on a thing’s file field or another record.
- Workflow continuation: use the plugin’s “file ready” event to email the file, attach it to a record or pass it to another action.
Do not assume that a screenshot action is synchronous. If the plugin exposes a completion event, perform storage and follow-up actions there rather than immediately after the request.
Capture an element, viewport or full page
Advanced Screenshot Element lists three scopes: a single element, the visible page and the whole page. It produces JPG or PNG and can either download the file or generate a URL. Use an element capture for a card or invoice, viewport capture for what the user currently sees, and full-page capture for a long document.

Make the layout deterministic
- Set an explicit width for responsive groups when the screenshot must be repeatable.
- Wait until repeating groups, images and fonts have loaded before firing the action.
- Capture the same browser breakpoint each time; a mobile layout and desktop layout are different outputs.
- Hide controls that should not appear, such as edit buttons or temporary loading indicators.
A browser screenshot may capture the current rendered state, not the state you intended. Use a custom event after data-loading conditions are true, and test with the actual destination browser.
Capture a separate website URL
Crazy Screenshot by URL is designed for an arbitrary address rather than a group already rendered in your Bubble page. Add its action to a workflow, provide the URL, and store the returned PNG file URL in a Bubble field or send it to the next workflow step.
Check callback and plan restrictions
The listing states that its callback feature requires a paid plan and does not work in demo mode. If your process waits for a callback, verify that requirement before designing around it. Also confirm whether the target URL is publicly reachable, whether redirects are supported, and how the plugin handles pages that require authentication.

When a URL plugin is the wrong choice
Use an in-page plugin when the target is already a Bubble element and you need Bubble storage or workflow events. A URL action adds another browser-rendering step and may not share the logged-in session, cookies or responsive dimensions of the user’s current page.

An external service is useful when you need a repeatable browser outside Bubble, capture many unrelated domains, or expose screenshot generation to other systems. Bubble must make an API call and handle authentication, timeouts and the returned file. Cloudflare documents a Browser Run screenshot endpoint for automated testing, quality assurance and visual-regression workflows, but the available information does not establish a turnkey Bubble-specific setup; treat it as an API integration project.

Store and reuse the image in Bubble
Save to a Bubble record
Create a file field on the relevant data type, then assign the plugin’s file result or API response after capture completes. Store the target URL, viewport and timestamp alongside the file so later users can tell which page state produced it.
Return a URL to another workflow
For URL-based plugins, save the returned PNG URL. Confirm its retention policy before treating it as permanent; download it into Bubble storage if the record must remain available independently of the provider.

Troubleshooting automatic Bubble screenshots
The image is blank or incomplete
Usually the workflow ran before data, images or fonts finished loading. Trigger the action after the data condition is true, add a deliberate wait where supported, and capture only after the target is visible. For an API, wait for a selector or network idle instead of relying only on a fixed delay.

Check that the target ID is unique and that the plugin action references the intended element, not a reusable group instance. Remove duplicate IDs and test the page at the same responsive breakpoint used in production.

The page is cut off
Use a full-page mode when the tool provides one. For a long Bubble group, ensure its height is actually expanded rather than clipped by a parent container. If the output is a PDF, inspect page size, margins and page ranges.
The URL action returns an error
Open the URL without a login, check redirects and confirm that the provider can reach the host. Private pages may require cookies or authorization headers; an in-page plugin can be simpler when the content exists inside the logged-in Bubble session.
A callback never arrives
Verify the plugin plan and demo restrictions. Crazy Screenshot by URL lists callbacks as paid-plan-only and unavailable in demo mode. Also confirm that your webhook or callback endpoint is publicly reachable and accepts the provider’s request method.
