To save one WordPress page as a PDF, open it in a browser, choose Print, select Save as PDF, adjust the print settings, and save. To give visitors a repeatable Download PDF button—or produce a cleaner print layout—use a WordPress plugin or a custom implementation. The right choice depends on whether you need one file or a site feature, whether the page is public, and how much control you need over the PDF layout.
Choose a method based on what you need

No approach guarantees a pixel-perfect copy. Theme styles, print styles, JavaScript state, fonts, images, and cross-origin assets can all affect the output.
Save a WordPress page as a PDF in your browser
For a one-off download, use the browser’s built-in print-to-PDF function. This does not require WordPress administrator access or a plugin. The menu wording varies by browser and operating system, but the process is the same:

- Open the public WordPress page in your browser. If the page requires a login, make sure you are signed in before printing.
- Open the browser’s Print command. Use the browser menu or its keyboard shortcut.
- In the print dialog, choose the browser’s PDF destination, such as Save as PDF.
- Review the preview. Adjust paper size, portrait or landscape orientation, scale, and margins until the content fits as needed.
- Check whether browser-added headers and footers should appear, then save the PDF.
Fix common print-layout problems
- Navigation, sidebars, or buttons appear: the page may not have print-specific CSS. Try a print-focused plugin or ask the site developer to add print styles.
- Content is cut off or split awkwardly: try a different orientation, paper size, scale, or margin setting, then inspect the preview again.
- An image, font, or interactive section is missing: wait for the page to finish loading and check the preview. Some assets or JavaScript-driven content may not print as they appear on screen.
Add a reusable Download PDF button
If visitors should be able to download PDFs repeatedly from posts or pages, a plugin can add a button or shortcode. Before enabling one across a site, decide whether visitors need a PDF of the themed page, a clean reading version, or a collection of posts. Those are different outputs.

HTML to PDF Converter by html2pdf.app
The WordPress plugin listing describes a shortcode such as [html2pdf text="Save as PDF"] and an automatic button for selected post types. Its options include screen or print media, A4 or Letter page formats, portrait or landscape orientation, margins, and custom dimensions. The service fetches the public page URL and returns a rendered PDF through https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate. That means the target page must be publicly accessible, and its URL and conversion settings are sent to the provider.
For cleaner output, the listing documents an html2pdf_hide class for elements to omit and a html2pdf-rendering body class available during rendering. These allow you to hide site elements such as headers, footers, sidebars, and the conversion button. Selecting print media can also activate the theme’s print styles. Test the PDF on pages with different templates; hiding a header does not automatically make every layout suitable for printing.
Print My Blog
Print My Blog creates a print-focused page that can be sent to the browser’s print function, including its PDF destination. Its documented shortcodes include [pmb_print_buttons] and [pmb_print_page_url format=pdf]; the plugin listing says these can be placed in content, widgets, or templates. This is a better fit when readers need a readable print version or a collection of posts, rather than a PDF that reproduces the full site theme.
WP-Print
WP-Print adds a /print/ endpoint for posts, pages, and custom post types. The printable document can include content, selected comments, images, and featured images while leaving out the theme’s navigation and sidebar. Templates and CSS can be copied into a theme for customization. After installing it, resave WordPress permalinks so the endpoint is registered.

PDF Generator for Posts & Pages
The plugin listing describes a Download PDF button for posts, pages, and custom post types. It says PDF generation happens in the visitor’s browser using React PDF renderer, without server-side processing or temporary files stored on the host. Client-side rendering can reduce work on your server, but the result still depends on the plugin’s layout configuration and browser-side rendering. Test the output in the browsers your visitors use.
PDFCrowd Save as PDF
PDFCrowd documents a hosted URL workflow that lets you choose which version of a WordPress page is used for the PDF. A public URL is needed when anyone should be able to open the page without logging in. Because the page is handled through a hosted service, verify current pricing, limits, and privacy terms before deployment.
Make the PDF omit the header and sidebar
The most maintainable solution is usually a print-specific layout, rather than trying to make a screen view fit a printed page. Print CSS can suppress navigation, sidebars, buttons, and other controls while preserving the article’s text and images. A plugin that supplies a print endpoint or a hosted converter that supports print media can use these styles. Some plugins also provide template or selector-based controls to hide individual elements.

Understand privacy and rendering trade-offs
There are two useful questions to ask when selecting a plugin: where does rendering happen? and what does the renderer need to access?
- Browser-based rendering: the visitor’s browser produces the PDF. The PDF Generator for Posts & Pages listing describes this approach. It avoids server-side processing and temporary PDF files on your host, but the output depends on client-side rendering and configuration.
- Hosted URL conversion: a provider fetches and renders the page. HTML to PDF Converter and PDFCrowd describe hosted workflows. The page must be reachable by the service; for HTML to PDF Converter, the URL and conversion settings are sent to its API.
- Browser print or a print endpoint: the reader uses a browser’s print engine. This avoids sending a page to a dedicated PDF conversion provider, but the browser and print CSS determine the result.
A publicly reachable URL is not the same as a private document workflow. If a page contains material that should not be shared with an external service, do not assume a hosted converter can safely access it just because the page is visible to a logged-in editor. Confirm the provider’s current handling and access requirements before using it.

Troubleshoot a WordPress PDF workflow
- The PDF button does nothing: check whether the plugin is active and the shortcode or automatic button is enabled for that content type. If it uses a hosted converter, confirm the page URL is public and reachable.
- A hosted conversion cannot access the page: check that the URL opens without a login and that the site is not blocking the service’s request. Do not expose a private page merely to make conversion work; choose a method appropriate for protected content.
- The PDF includes the site header or sidebar: use print CSS, a print-focused endpoint, or the plugin’s documented hide controls. Verify the rendered result rather than assuming the screen layout will be cleaned automatically.
- The PDF is missing fonts, images, or dynamic content: wait for assets and scripts to load, then test again. Cross-origin assets and JavaScript state can behave differently in print or hosted rendering.
- The print endpoint returns a not-found page: for WP-Print, resave WordPress permalinks after installing the plugin so the endpoint is registered.
- The layout differs by visitor: for browser-rendered methods, test more than one browser and review the plugin’s configuration. Do not promise identical output across browsers without verifying it.
Keep conversion reliable and costs predictable
Browser printing has no plugin or hosted conversion dependency, making it a good fallback for a single page. A reusable button adds convenience, but also adds a plugin or service to maintain. Client-side PDF generation shifts rendering to the visitor’s browser; hosted rendering depends on the provider being able to fetch and process the page.
For a hosted workflow, check current service pricing, conversion limits, and privacy terms before putting the button on a production site. These details can change. Also test the pages that matter most after WordPress, theme, or plugin updates: changes in markup, print CSS, scripts, or assets can affect the generated file. Frequently asked questions
Can I make a PDF of a WordPress page that visitors cannot access?
It depends on the chosen rendering method and its access model. A hosted URL converter described here fetches a public page; it is not established here as a solution for protected pages. Review the plugin’s current documentation before relying on it for authenticated content.
Will the PDF preserve clickable links?
The available plugin descriptions do not establish link behavior for every method. Generate a sample PDF and test the links in the resulting file before promising that behavior to readers.
Do I need a plugin just to save a page as a PDF?
No. For your own one-off copy, a browser’s Print dialog can save the page as a PDF. A plugin is useful when you want visitors to have a repeatable button, print endpoint, or multi-post output.
