For quick access, bookmark a post in the thread and find it later in X’s Bookmarks tab. That saves the post to your account for private retrieval; it is not a standalone copy of every post. If you need a more portable reading copy, Thread Reader App documents a Premium PDF workflow for eligible public threads, with important access and retention limits.
Choose the method that matches what you need

For a single post or thread you simply want to revisit, start with Bookmarks. Choose an archive workflow if you need a file outside X, and an account archive if your goal is a broader snapshot of your own account data.
Save a thread to X Bookmarks
Bookmark one post in the thread. You can open that saved post later from Bookmarks and navigate through the thread from there, while the post remains available to your account.

- Open a post in the thread.
- Open the post’s share menu and choose Add post to Bookmarks.
- To retrieve it, open Bookmarks from X’s navigation menu and select the saved post.
On iOS
- Open the post’s details.
- Tap the Bookmark icon.
- Later, open Bookmarks in the navigation menu and tap the saved post.
X says Bookmarks are private and viewable only to you within your X account. To remove one, open it from Bookmarks and tap its Bookmark icon. X also documents a control to remove all bookmarks at once, so use that only if you intend to clear the entire list.

A bookmark is a pointer within X, not an exported archive. X’s instructions describe saving posts in your account; they do not promise a permanent copy of every post in a thread. If the author deletes posts or access changes, a saved bookmark may no longer lead to the content you expected. That is a practical consequence of relying on the post in X, not a separate guarantee from X.
Use Reader Mode to read, not export
X Premium’s Reader Mode turns a thread into a more readable text view. Open the post details and tap the Reader Mode icon to switch it on or off. It can help when you want to read the thread in a continuous presentation, but X documents it as a reading feature rather than a way to download or save a PDF.
X Premium also offers bookmark folders for organizing saved posts. Folders help sort bookmarks and are private; they do not turn those posts into files. Premium eligibility and interface details can change, so check the current X app or help information for availability on your account.

Save a thread as a PDF with Thread Reader App
Thread Reader App documents a workflow for unrolling a public thread, bookmarking the unrolled version on its site, and requesting a PDF archive as a Premium member. Premium members can also connect Google Drive or Dropbox for automatic PDF storage. This is the closest fit when you want a formatted file, but it is conditional on the thread being accessible and the service being able to process it.
- Ask Thread Reader App to unroll the public thread using its service workflow.
- Open the unrolled thread on its site and bookmark it there if you want to return to it.
- If you have Premium access, request a PDF archive.
- Optionally connect Google Drive or Dropbox if you want PDFs stored there automatically.
Limits to know before relying on it
- Thread Reader App says it does not retain content forever and that content deleted on X is also deleted from its site. If a copy matters to you, download or store the PDF rather than relying only on the service page.
- It cannot unroll threads from private X accounts.
- Requests can be skipped or fail because of API limits, a previous request, a solo post rather than a thread, a private requester account, or reply restrictions.
- Its help page warns that threads longer than 100 posts may cause errors and cannot be saved as PDF. This is a limitation stated by the service for its workflow, not a universal limit for other saving methods.
- If the author is still adding posts, an early unroll may be incomplete. Thread Reader App describes refreshing the unroll and waiting before requesting a new PDF archive.
- The service describes its web app as a Progressive Web App, not a native app downloaded from an app store.
Do not treat the service page as a guaranteed archive: its own documentation says deleted X content is removed and identifies access, request, and thread-length constraints.
Request an X account archive for a broader backup
An X archive is intended to cover account information more broadly than one saved thread. In X, go to Settings and privacy → Account → Your X data → Request data, then complete identity verification. X says it will notify you when the archive is ready and provide a ZIP download. Preparation may take a few days. The archive is provided in machine-readable HTML and JSON and includes a broad set of account information, so it is a backup path rather than a quick one-thread save.

Can a screenshot help?
A screenshot can preserve what was visibly rendered at the moment of capture, but it is not the same as saving a complete thread as searchable text or a formatted document. A long thread may not fit in one view, and a screenshot of a page does not establish that every post was captured. Use X Bookmarks or an export workflow for the purposes those methods support.

Troubleshooting
The bookmarked post is missing
- Check the Bookmarks tab for the account in which you originally saved it.
- On web or Android, use the post’s share menu and choose Add post to Bookmarks; on iOS, use the Bookmark icon in post details.
- If the post was deleted or its availability changed, the bookmark may no longer lead to the thread content. A bookmark is not an independent copy.
Thread Reader App does not unroll the thread
- Confirm the account and thread are public; the service says it cannot process private-account threads.
- Consider whether it is a solo post, has already been requested, or has reply restrictions. These are among the reasons the service may skip a request.
- If a request cannot be handled, the limitation may be API-related rather than a problem with your PDF settings.
The PDF is incomplete or cannot be requested
- If the author was still posting, refresh the unroll after the thread is complete.
- For very long threads, the service warns that threads exceeding 100 posts may error and cannot be saved as PDF.
- If you have just requested an archive, follow the service’s documented delay before asking for a new PDF.
The screenshot is blank or shows a challenge
A screenshot represents the page state that could be rendered; it cannot make a bot check or inaccessible page into a complete thread. For a reliable retrieval path, bookmark the post in X. For a portable copy, use an export workflow only when the thread is eligible and the service can process it.
