The basic call captures the visible viewport; set FullPage = true for the full scrollable page. The example below uses Playwright .NET’s C# API, not the JavaScript syntax shown in some browser-automation guides.
Set up Playwright .NET
Playwright needs both its .NET package and the browser binaries it uses to automate a browser. In a terminal, create a console project, add the package, build it, and run the generated browser-install script. Replace netX with the target-framework directory produced by your build.

pwsh bin/Debug/netX/playwright.ps1 installIf the pwsh command is unavailable or out of date, the Playwright .NET installation guide suggests updating the global PowerShell tool.
Capture and save a website screenshot
Put this code in the project’s Program.cs. It launches Chromium headlessly, opens a page, navigates to a URL, and writes a PNG screenshot of the visible viewport to screenshot.png.

Choose what to capture
Visible viewport
The sample omits FullPage, whose default is false, so it captures the current viewport rather than the entire document. This is usually the right scope for a visual check of a specific screen-sized state.

Full scrollable page
Set FullPage = true to capture the full scrollable page as one image:

One element
Use a locator’s ScreenshotAsync method to save a particular element rather than the whole viewport:

Image bytes instead of a file
Call ScreenshotAsync() without a path to receive the screenshot as a byte array. You can pass those bytes to your own image-processing or storage code instead of first writing a file.
Control format and capture behavior
Playwright .NET’s Page API supports PNG, JPEG, and WebP. When saving to a path, the file extension determines the format. The Quality option applies to JPEG and WebP, not PNG; the documented defaults are JPEG quality 80 and WebP quality 100, with WebP quality 100 described as lossless.

- Pixel scale:
Scalecan beDeviceorCss. Device scale can produce more pixels on a high-DPI display; CSS scale produces one image pixel per CSS pixel. - Clip: Specify a region when you need only part of the page.
- Transparent background: Enable transparent-background capture where applicable.
- Masks: Cover selected elements, such as dynamic or sensitive regions. The documented default mask color is pink.
- Animations: Control animation handling to make captures more repeatable.
The documented screenshot timeout defaults to 30 seconds and can be overridden. A successful screenshot call does not establish that every application-specific element has finished loading. Choose a readiness condition suited to the page you are capturing rather than assuming one universal wait guarantees a complete render.
