Nubia launched it in China on March 29, 2024, with a reported price of CNY 6,499 for the 16GB RAM/512GB model. By 2026, it is best treated as a limited China-market edition that may turn up through import sellers, not as a current global launch.
What happened to the Bumblebee Edition?
The original “to receive” wording referred to pre-launch teasers. The finished RedMagic 9 Pro+ Bumblebee Transformers Edition launched in China on March 29, 2024, after the standard RedMagic 9 Pro series debuted in November 2023. Launch coverage reported Chinese retail availability, including JD.com, and said Nubia had not announced a global rollout. Flashfly’s launch report and XiaomiToday’s availability coverage describe the China launch.
It is distinct from the earlier RedMagic 7S Pro Transformers Edition, which also used Bumblebee branding. The 2024 phone is a special-edition treatment of the RedMagic 9 Pro+, not a new generation of gaming hardware. Canaltech’s pre-launch report reflects the earlier teaser stage; the later launch reports establish that the product did arrive.
What makes it different?
The distinction is mainly visual and collectible. Reports describe a yellow-and-black finish with metallic and carbon-fiber-style textures, Autobot branding, and “BUMBLEBEE” engraving. The Transformers theme also extends to the retail packaging, wallpapers, icons, and interface elements. This is a branded design and accessory bundle, not evidence of a faster processor or exclusive performance mode. Flashfly covers the design and bundle.

These are the reported specifications for the 16GB/512GB Bumblebee configuration. Regional firmware, modem-band support, and charger certification should be checked for the specific import unit.

The specifications are reported in Flashfly’s coverage; a reseller listing also identifies a 16GB/512GB CN-region unit. Touch’s listing is an example, not a guarantee that every seller’s stock or firmware is identical.

Is it more powerful than the standard RedMagic 9 Pro+?
There is no reported platform-level performance upgrade. The Bumblebee model uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 generation and the same general display, battery, camera, and gaming-phone architecture as the standard 9 Pro+. Its 16GB/512GB configuration may be more generous than some standard-market configurations, but extra memory or storage does not establish a faster chipset or better sustained gaming performance. What is in the box?
Launch coverage describes a themed bundle that can include a custom magnetic Cooler 4 Pro, 165W GaN charger, black-and-yellow USB-C cable, special magnetic case, Bumblebee or Autobot SIM-eject tool, badge or emblem, and custom packaging. Names and contents may vary between listings, so confirm the exact bundle with the seller before paying. A Panda-Wagon collaboration listing describes the accessories, while Touch’s CN-region listing gives another example of the included items.

Price and availability: China launch, later promotion, and imports
The reported launch price was CNY 6,499 for the 16GB/512GB configuration. One March 2024 report gave an approximate launch-time conversion of about US$899; that was not an official U.S. MSRP and is not a current resale-price estimate. Gizmochina’s launch report gives the price.
Available evidence supports a China-market launch, not a confirmed broad global retail rollout. A later reseller listing identifies the model region as CN, while import listings may appear or disappear and may carry different prices and package contents. For example, Touch’s listing labels it CN, and Giztop’s product page is an import-reseller lead rather than an official local-market listing. Neither establishes dependable current stock or a current price.

REDMAGIC’s 2026 anniversary materials listed one 16GB+512GB Bumblebee Limited Edition as a milestone prize. That shows the brand still recognized the edition for a promotion; it does not establish a retail relaunch or new hardware revision. See the official anniversary prize guide.

- Firmware and services: Ask whether Google Play and Google Mobile Services work, which interface languages are available, and whether the seller has installed a modified ROM. Confirm update status and whether banking, streaming, DRM, and notification-dependent apps work as you need them.
- Carrier support: Compare the exact LTE and 5G bands of the model with your carrier and check VoLTE requirements. A “5G” label alone does not establish compatibility, particularly in the United States.
- Warranty and returns: Get the warranty jurisdiction and return terms in writing. Confirm whether the unit is new, refurbished, or resealed, and use a payment method with buyer protection.
- Authenticity and bundle: Ask for the exact model number and a written inventory of the original themed accessories. A handset with a Bumblebee case or skin is not equivalent to the full edition bundle.
- Charging and service: Check the charger plug and certification for your region, plus local repair options and software-support expectations. Imported units may have seller-backed or regional warranty coverage rather than local manufacturer support.
Is it worth buying in 2026?
For a Transformers collector, the distinctive finish and complete themed kit may justify paying more than for a standard RedMagic 9 Pro+. For someone buying mainly for gaming, the premium is for design, branding, scarcity, and accessories—not a newer performance platform. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is an older generation by 2026 standards, and the phone is not the brand’s current flagship generation; REDMAGIC’s anniversary materials also promote newer products such as the RedMagic 11 Air. If the special design is not the point, compare the standard RedMagic 9 Pro or 9 Pro+ and newer gaming phones available with local warranty and carrier support. Do not pay a collector premium unless the seller confirms the full accessory set and you are comfortable with the unit’s region, firmware, and return terms.
