Amazon’s dedicated guidance for Prime Video Error 2063 points first to a payment or order problem—not a confirmed playback fault. Check the payment method for the specific rental, purchase, Prime membership, or add-on involved before trying app or network fixes. If you paid through Apple, check Apple’s payment settings instead.
First, identify where Error 2063 appears
The right fix depends on what you were doing when the code appeared. Amazon’s dedicated Error 2063 guidance directs users to payment details for Prime Video rentals and purchases, Prime memberships, and Prime Video add-on subscriptions. It gives corrective steps rather than a detailed technical explanation of the code, so it is not established that every 2063 message has the same underlying cause.
- One rental or purchase: start with the payment method for that transaction and check the order for a payment prompt.
- Prime or an add-on subscription: check the payment method and 1-Click settings under Manage Your Memberships & Subscriptions.
- A purchase billed through Apple: check the payment details stored in the iTunes & App Store settings on the Apple account used for the purchase.
- The subscription looks active but many titles fail: after the account and payment checks, investigate the app, device, and network. That pattern suggests a broader playback or sign-in issue, but does not establish the cause of Error 2063.
Use the six steps below in order. The first three address the payment problem Amazon identifies; the remaining steps are general Prime Video troubleshooting, not confirmed 2063-specific fixes.
1. Identify the transaction and billing channel
Before changing a card, determine whether the error appeared while renting or buying a title, starting or renewing Prime, renewing a Prime Video add-on, or completing an Apple-billed purchase. A card saved to your general Amazon account may not be the payment method controlling every transaction.

For an Apple-billed purchase, use the iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV account that made it and review its iTunes & App Store payment settings. For Amazon-billed transactions, follow the matching payment route in the next step.
2. Update the payment method in the right place
For Prime or a Prime Video add-on
- Open your Amazon account.
- Go to Manage Your Memberships & Subscriptions.
- Review the payment method and 1-Click settings associated with the membership or add-on.
- Correct or replace the payment details, save the changes, and retry the affected action.
For a rental or purchase
Use Amazon or Prime Video’s Update Your Payment Method workflow for the purchase. The Amazon help page notes separate routes for transactions and memberships; adding a new card in an unrelated account setting may not update the failed transaction.

Amazon account pages and labels can vary by country. US readers should use their US Amazon or Prime Video account page rather than assume that a particular regional help URL or menu is permanent.
3. Check the order and complete any bank verification
If the payment still fails, check Your Orders or the relevant Prime Video order history for the affected order and follow any payment-update prompt. Then verify each item below before submitting another attempt:

- Card number, expiration date, and three-digit security code are correct.
- The account has sufficient available funds.
- The card permits online or e-commerce transactions.
- You have completed any verification prompt from Amazon or the card issuer.
- Your bank has not blocked the charge or authorization attempt.
A card can work for ordinary purchases yet be declined for a recurring subscription, digital goods, or an international transaction. If the issuer is declining the charge, contact the bank; if the original method continues to fail, try another suitable payment method. Amazon’s payment and order guidance also notes that existing subscriptions may require payment verification. Check order and bank status before retrying repeatedly, since repeated attempts can create authorization holds or trigger fraud controls.
4. Fully restart Prime Video, the device, and—if needed—the router
Once payment details are corrected, restart the session so the app can pick up the change. Amazon’s general playback guidance recommends closing the app or browser, restarting the device, and restarting the router if needed.

- Getting set up is easy – Plug in and connect to Wi-Fi for smooth streaming.
- Close Prime Video completely rather than minimizing it.
- Power off the phone, computer, TV, streaming stick, or console. Wait at least 60 seconds before restarting it.
- If the issue persists—or affects multiple devices—restart the router. Wait for its indicator lights to stabilize and the connection to return.
- Reopen Prime Video and retry the same action once.
If the same payment message appears across devices, a hardware restart alone is unlikely to resolve an account-side billing problem; return to the transaction, order, and bank checks.
5. Update Prime Video and the device; use automatic date and time
Outdated software or an incorrect device clock can interfere with app authentication and playback. Check for updates to the Prime Video app, the device’s operating system or firmware, and your browser if you watch on a computer. Set the device’s date and time to automatic.

- Chrome: enter
chrome://settings/helpin the address bar. - Firefox: open the menu, then choose Help → About Firefox.
- Fire TV: Settings → My Fire TV → About → Check for System Update.
- Fire tablet: Settings → Device Options → System Updates.
Menu names vary by device model, software version, language, and manufacturer. On other TVs, phones, consoles, and streaming devices, use the device’s own settings or app store.
6. Remove network or app interference, then reinstall if necessary
If the payment is in order but Prime Video still will not work, try Amazon’s general playback steps in sequence:
- Turn off VPN and proxy services temporarily. This can help with playback or authentication problems, but does not repair an expired or declined card.
- Temporarily pause large downloads or other heavy internet activity.
- If possible, test the account in a supported browser or on another supported device. A purchase that succeeds elsewhere points toward a device- or app-specific issue.
- Uninstall and reinstall Prime Video if the problem remains. Downloads and local session data may need to be restored.
For an external streaming device connected to a TV or monitor, check the HDMI connection and HDCP compatibility if video playback fails. Amazon lists HDCP 1.4 for HD content and HDCP 2.2 for UHD and/or HDR content; these requirements are more relevant to display or playback failures than to the payment-focused 2063 guidance. A factory reset should be a last resort: it removes account information and downloaded content from the device and may erase data for other apps.

If the correct payment record is updated, any bank verification is complete, and the error remains, use the official Prime Video Help hub and choose Contact Us. Have the error code, affected order or title, device model, app version, and the payment status shown by Amazon or your bank ready. Do not send or disclose your full card number. Avoid phone numbers or app downloads from unofficial search results.
