Make a square version of your logo, then turn it into the required browser icon files with a generator. For the simplest workflow, upload a square image to App Icon & Manifest Generator; for a repeatable Node.js workflow, use @profullstack/favicon-generator.
Prepare Your Logo Before Generating
- Use a square canvas. The App Icon & Manifest Generator recommends a square image of at least 512px.
- Export the logo as one of the browser tool’s accepted formats: PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG.
- Keep the mark centered and leave enough padding for it to remain recognizable at small favicon sizes. Check the result at the size you expect visitors to see; this is a design check, not a feature claim about either generator.

Make A Favicon In Your Browser
Upload The Square Logo
- Open App Icon & Manifest Generator.
- Choose the upload or browse control and select your square logo file.
- Confirm that the preview still shows the complete mark. If text becomes unreadable, return to the logo file and simplify or enlarge the mark before generating again.
Download The Complete Pack
- Download the generated package.
- Look for favicon.ico and the 16px, 32px and 48px PNG files for the basic browser favicon set.
- Keep the Apple touch, Android/PWA, maskable and Microsoft tile files when your site needs those platforms.
- Copy the supplied HTML into your site’s page head and add the supplied web manifest where your site platform expects it.
Generate PNG Icons With Node.js
Check The Runtime
- Use a machine with Node.js v20 or newer, because that is the runtime stated for @profullstack/favicon-generator.
- Prepare the logo as an SVG or PNG source file.
Run The Generator And Review Quality
- Follow the command and setup instructions in the project’s repository to convert the source logo into PNG icons.
- Set PNG quality on the tool’s 1–100 scale when its configuration asks for it.
- Open the generated files and check the logo at small sizes before copying them into your website’s icon location.
Install The Files On Your Website
- Upload the generated favicon files to the location used by your website builder or hosting setup.
- Place the browser tool’s copy-paste HTML in the document head if you used App Icon & Manifest Generator.
- Publish the changes, then reload the site in a private window or clear the browser’s cached page data if the old icon remains visible.
Check The Finished Favicon
- Verify that the favicon is recognizable when reduced to 16px, 32px and 48px.
- Check the browser tab and bookmark view on the phones and browsers your visitors use.
- Open the generated PWA or manifest files only after confirming that the logo and brand name are correct.
- Keep the original square logo and generated package together so you can repeat the process after a logo change.
Privacy And Rights Notes
App Icon & Manifest Generator states that everything is generated locally in your browser. You still need permission to use the logo and any third-party marks included in it; these tools do not establish ownership or grant a license. For project-specific hosting, browser or legal requirements not stated here, check your website platform and the vendor’s current documentation.
