For copyright-free music, check the license attached to the exact plan and download. “Copyright-free” usually means you can use a track without paying a new royalty for each use; it does not automatically mean public-domain, exclusive, or safe to reuse in every project. Keep the receipt, license certificate, plan name and download date with the audio.
What A Copyright-Free License Actually Covers
A usable license normally answers four separate questions:
- Permission: Can you sync the music to a video, podcast, game, advertisement or social post?
- Money: Can you monetize the project, release it on streaming services or use it for client work?
- File rights: Can you download the MP3, WAV, stems or MIDI, and are there watermarks or export limits?
- Restrictions: Does the license limit platforms, public performance, redistribution, resale or use of a cloned voice?
A non-exclusive license lets the service keep ownership or license the same track to others. Musicful states that downloads carry a non-exclusive perpetual license while Musicful retains ownership. That can still cover videos, podcasts and audiobooks, including monetized content, when its stated terms apply.

Copyright Status And Commercial Permission Are Different
Commercial permission is a contract question; copyright ownership is a legal question. The U.S. Copyright Office says material generated entirely by AI is not copyrightable, prompts alone do not make the user the author, and only human-authored parts of a mixed work can be protected. If a work contains more than a minimal amount of AI-generated material, an applicant must disclose it and describe the human contribution. Read the service license separately from copyright-registration rules.

For voices, covers and uploaded samples, use only material you have permission to use. A platform’s commercial wording does not give you consent to imitate a real singer, upload someone else’s recording or release a cover without the required rights. Spotify says vocal impersonation is allowed only when the impersonated artist has authorized it, and YouTube requires disclosure of realistic altered or synthetic content that could be mistaken for a real performance.

Which License Fits A Phone-Based Project?
Short Videos And Social Posts
For a phone edit, choose a plan that explicitly permits monetization and gives you a clean downloadable file. Loudly’s free 30-second limit may suit a short test, while Songin.ai’s free watermark and personal-use restriction do not suit a monetized post. Musicful can work when you are on Standard or Pro and save its commercial licence certificate.

Use a service whose terms cover the full download and the destination platform. Mureka, OpenMusic AI and Suno’s paid offering state commercial or royalty-free rights in the supplied evidence. Check whether your exact plan covers the length, export format and channel before you render the video.
Instrumental Beats And Lo-Fi
Soundverse AI Beat Maker is aimed at complete instrumentals and offers a commercial license option. SimpleLofi specifically describes its beats as monetization-safe. Keep the license record with the project because “royalty-free” does not make the file yours to resell as a standalone music library.

A Safe Download Workflow
- Write down the project, platform, monetization status and whether a client will pay for the work.
- Open the service’s current plan and license terms before generating or downloading.
- Generate music without using an unlicensed sample, lyric, voice or reference recording.
- If a real person’s voice could be imitated, obtain that person’s authorization; do not treat a voice-cloning feature as consent.
- Download the permitted format and save the receipt, plan, license certificate, prompt and date in the project folder.
- Before publishing, check the destination platform’s disclosure and monetization rules, including YouTube’s altered-or-synthetic content label and Spotify’s AI disclosure expectations.
When The Evidence Is Not Enough
If a page only says “royalty-free” but does not state your intended use, treat the use as unconfirmed. Ask the vendor whether the exact plan covers commercial publication, client work, paid advertising, streaming distribution, public performance and your export type. Do not infer rights from a free preview, a watermark-free player or the fact that a track was generated from your prompt.
