Use voice.google.com and select Sign In on a computer. On Android, iPhone or iPad, open the Google Voice app and choose the Google Account that owns your Voice number. Google Voice uses your Google Account credentials—there is normally no separate Google Voice password. If Voice opens without your number or messages, switch accounts before attempting other fixes.
Sign in to Google Voice on a computer
- Open Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari, which Google lists as supported browsers for web calling and notifications (Google Voice browser requirements).
- Go to voice.google.com. Check that the address is on the google.com domain before entering credentials.
- Select Sign In in the upper-right corner.
- Enter the email address or phone number for the Google Account connected to Voice, then select Next.
- Enter the Google Account password and complete any 2-Step Verification or other security prompt.
- Confirm that your expected calls, messages, voicemail and settings appear.
For browser call notifications, the Google Voice page must remain open and signed in. Notification permissions and call-forwarding settings are separate from signing in (Google’s calling instructions).
Sign in on Android
- Open the Google Voice app.
- If the wrong account is active, tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Select the Google Account associated with your Voice number.
- Open the app’s settings and verify that the expected Voice number is shown.
The Android app can have multiple Google Accounts enabled, but the device’s phone number can be linked to only one Voice account (Google’s Android sign-in instructions).
Sign in on iPhone or iPad
- Open the Google Voice app.
- Tap the profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Choose the Google Account that owns your Voice number.
- If that account is not listed, add it through the app’s account controls or your device’s Google Account settings, then return to Voice.
After switching accounts, check the account information in Voice to make sure the correct number and history load (Google’s iPhone and iPad instructions).

Which Google Account is connected to my Voice number?
A Voice number belongs to a specific Google Account. Being signed in to Gmail, or successfully authenticating with Google, does not prove that the active account owns the Voice number.
Check on the web
- Open Google Voice and select Settings.
- Under Account, find the Voice number.
Google documents this check in Find your Google Voice number or username. If no number appears, switch to another Google Account. The account may also have never been set up for Voice.
Check in the Android app
Open Voice, open the menu, choose Settings, and look under Account for the number (Google’s Android account check).

Switch between multiple Google Accounts
On the web, select the Google profile image in the upper-right corner and choose another signed-in account. Select the option to add an account if the one you need is missing. In either mobile app, tap the profile image and select another available account.
After every switch, check Settings → Account. A missing number, call history, messages or voicemail usually means the wrong account is active—not that the data was deleted.

Personal Google Account versus Google Workspace
Personal account
Use the personal Gmail or Google Account that originally received or set up the Voice number. Forgotten usernames, passwords and unavailable verification methods must be handled through Google’s account-recovery process. Google recommends answering as many questions as possible from a familiar device and location (account recovery).

Work or school account
A Workspace administrator must turn on Google Voice and assign a Voice license. The organization may also control single sign-on, password recovery and 2-Step Verification. If the organization uses third-party SSO or Password Sync, self-service password recovery may not be available; contact the administrator (Workspace password-recovery settings).

How to sign out of Google Voice
- On the web, select your profile photo in the upper-right corner.
- Select Sign out.
Google notes that this signs you out of the Google Account session in that browser. On a shared or public computer, sign out of the entire Google Account, close the browser window, do not save the password, and do not stay signed in.
On mobile, switching accounts changes the active Voice account; use the app’s account-management controls when you need to remove an account from the device.

Sign-in security reminders
- Enter your password, one-time code, backup code or security-prompt approval only on Google’s own sign-in pages.
- Google does not authorize third-party services to recover passwords. Ignore search ads, phone numbers or “support” agents promising immediate recovery (Google recovery safety tips).
- Do not share credentials or verification codes with anyone, including someone claiming to be Google support.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate Google Voice password?
No. The normal sign-in uses the Google Account email address or phone number and password associated with Voice.
Can I sign in with my Google Voice number?
The Voice number identifies the Voice account but is not necessarily the Google Account sign-in identifier. Use the account email address or an accepted Google Account phone identifier.

The active Google Account is probably not the one that owns your expected number. Switch accounts from the profile menu and check Settings → Account.

Can a work or school account use Google Voice?
Yes, when the organization has enabled Voice and assigned the required license. Otherwise, contact the Workspace administrator.
Is Google Voice available everywhere?
Availability and features vary by country, account type and Workspace configuration. Check Google’s setup information for your account and region (Set up Google Voice).
