If your controller works elsewhere but not in Fall Guys, start with the fix for your platform: on Steam, enable Steam Input; on Epic Games Store, close other controller-mapping tools and verify the game files. If Windows or your console does not detect the controller at all, troubleshoot its cable, battery, pairing, or hardware before changing game settings.
First close the game, disconnect and reconnect the controller, and relaunch. For a PlayStation controller on PC, Fall Guys support recommends launching the game with the controller unplugged, then reconnecting it. Use the sections below for your launcher and symptom.
Identify what is failing
The right fix depends on whether the controller is missing from the whole system or only from Fall Guys. Check whether another game recognizes it, then match your symptom to the first test below.

Try these quick fixes first
- Exit Fall Guys completely.
- Disconnect the controller and check that it is charged. If it uses a cable, try another USB port and, if available, a known-good data cable.
- Restart the PC or console, reconnect the controller, and launch the game again.
- If you use Bluetooth, test over USB. If USB works, re-pair the controller and keep it near the Bluetooth receiver while testing.
- Disconnect other gamepads, wheels, fight sticks, and virtual controllers temporarily.
- Close controller remappers and overlays you are not intentionally using. Then launch Fall Guys and test again.
If the controller fails in other games too, focus on the connection, operating system, firmware, or controller hardware; a Fall Guys setting is unlikely to fix a system-wide detection problem. On Windows, check whether it appears in Windows game-controller settings or Steam’s detected-controller list. A third-party browser gamepad tester is optional and is not a Fall Guys requirement.

Fix controller problems on Steam
For the Steam version, Fall Guys support’s first controller-specific fix is to enable Steam Input for the game. Steam’s menu wording can change slightly between client versions.
- Open Steam and select Library.
- Right-click Fall Guys and select Properties.
- Select Controller.
- Set the game’s controller option to Enable Steam Input.
- Close Properties and relaunch Fall Guys.
This is an official recommendation for the Steam copy, not a universal requirement for every controller or platform. The full Fall Guys Steam controller troubleshooting guide includes an Xbox-specific setting and a fallback if the standard option does not work.
If you use an Xbox controller
- In Steam, open Steam > Settings > Controller.
- Enable Steam Input for Xbox Controllers.
- Close Settings and relaunch Fall Guys.
If Steam detects the controller but Fall Guys still does not
Try the official forced-on fallback: open Steam Big Picture Mode, then go to Library > Fall Guys > Manage Game > Controller Options. Set Steam Input Per-Game Setting to Forced on, restart Steam, and launch the game. Labels may vary with Steam client updates.

Test with one input translation layer at a time. Steam Input can translate controller input, and external remappers can create a virtual Xbox controller that Steam sees instead of the physical PlayStation controller. Close tools such as DS4Windows, InputMapper, or reWASD while testing Steam Input; do not run several virtual-controller tools together. Fix controller problems on Epic Games Store
Steam Input instructions apply to a Steam launch. If you own the Epic version, first test a direct launch from Epic Games Launcher with Steam and unused remapping utilities closed. This checks whether an extra input layer is part of the problem.
Verify Fall Guys files
- Open Epic Games Launcher and go to Library.
- Find Fall Guys and click the three dots beside it.
- Select Manage, then click Verify.
- Wait for validation to finish, then relaunch the game.
Epic says verification repairs missing or corrupted files without affecting saved data. It may help if game files are damaged, but it is not a guaranteed controller-input fix. See Epic’s file-verification instructions.
Clear the launcher cache and isolate background software
If the issue began after an update or the launcher behaves inconsistently, follow Epic’s Fall Guys troubleshooting guidance to clear the launcher cache. The cache location and interface can change, so use Epic’s current directions rather than deleting a guessed folder.

As a test, close Steam if it is not deliberately providing input, plus other controller utilities, overlays, and background apps that may intercept input. This is isolation testing, not evidence that any particular program always conflicts with Fall Guys. If you normally use Steam Input for a PlayStation or Switch controller, test that setup separately rather than running it alongside another remapper.

For a PlayStation controller on PC
Unplug the controller, launch or relaunch Fall Guys, and reconnect it after the game starts. Then test the controls. This is the launch-and-reconnect workaround documented by Fall Guys support for PlayStation controllers on PC.
If the controller works through Steam but not through Epic, that does not by itself mean the controller is defective: Steam may be translating its input while the direct Epic launch is not. Try the direct-launch and file checks above before adding another launcher to the chain. Launching an Epic copy through Steam as a non-Steam game is an optional, unofficial workaround; it adds another input layer and is not guaranteed.
Check USB, Bluetooth, and Windows detection
When USB works but Bluetooth does not
- Re-pair the controller with Windows and test again.
- Move closer to the Bluetooth receiver and test with nearby wireless devices temporarily turned off.
- Try another Bluetooth receiver or USB port if one is available.
- Update the controller firmware through its manufacturer’s official software, where available.
Nearby Bluetooth devices can interfere with wireless signals, according to Epic’s PC troubleshooting guidance; that makes interference one possibility, not a confirmed cause of a particular Fall Guys problem.
When Windows does not recognize the controller
Install pending Windows updates, check the cable and port, and confirm whether the controller appears in Windows game-controller settings. Use the controller maker’s official firmware or driver tools rather than third-party “driver updater” utilities. As an advanced step, you can remove and reinstall the controller device through Device Manager, but device categories and labels vary. Do this only if you are comfortable identifying the correct device.

Fixes for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch consoles
Console players do not use Steam Input or Windows drivers. First test the controller in another game; if it fails there too, use the console maker’s controller support. If the issue is limited to Fall Guys, fully restart the console, update the game and system software, and reconnect or re-pair the controller. If the game installation appears damaged, reinstall Fall Guys. Epic lists separate update routes for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Steam, and Epic Games Launcher.
Nintendo Switch
- Hold the console’s power button for at least three seconds, select Power Options > Restart, and let it restart fully.
- Check for a Fall Guys update.
- Check Fall Guys for corrupted data.
- Reinstall the game if needed.
These steps follow Epic’s Switch troubleshooting instructions. Nintendo directs players with Fall Guys-specific problems to Epic’s support; see Nintendo’s Fall Guys support guidance.
Loading/account edge case: Epic also describes a Switch workaround for some first-time users or users stuck loading: sign in to Epic Games Launcher on a PC with Nintendo Switch credentials, accept the Terms of Use, play one game, then return to Switch. This is an account/loading workaround, not a general controller fix.
PlayStation and Xbox
Restart the console, install available Fall Guys and system updates, and test the controller in another game. Reconnect or re-pair it using the console’s normal controls. If Fall Guys alone remains affected after simpler checks, reinstall the game; if the controller fails across games, contact PlayStation or Xbox support.

When to try advanced PC repairs
Use these only after connection checks, the correct launcher-specific steps, and a clean input test. Epic’s PC troubleshooting guide covers file verification, launcher cache, Windows updates, background applications, Easy Anti-Cheat repair, and System File Checker.
- Verify Fall Guys files in the launcher you use, as described above.
- Install pending Windows updates and current controller firmware from the manufacturer.
- If Fall Guys has broader launch or anti-cheat problems, use Epic’s current instructions for repairing Easy Anti-Cheat rather than applying unrelated fixes.
- For suspected Windows system-file corruption, follow Microsoft’s official instructions for System File Checker.
Avoid registry edits, registry cleaners, random driver downloads, or instructions to disable security features as routine controller fixes. Epic’s current PC guidance warns against registry changes for ordinary users.
If the controller still does not work
Contact the support team for the layer where the failure occurs: the controller maker or console platform if it fails in every game; Steam if the issue is isolated to the Steam setup; or Fall Guys/Epic if it only happens in Fall Guys. For PC escalation, Epic asks for a clear issue description, troubleshooting already tried, device type, diagnostic files or logs where requested, and the date and time of the error. Gather these details before contacting support:
