If Tinder is not working, first open Tinder.com and try the same action there, then switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data. Those checks help separate an app or network problem from a login, location, account-status or service issue. Work through the fixes below before deleting anything: deleting the app is not the same as deleting your account, and account deletion can permanently remove matches and messages.
Start by identifying what is failing
“Tinder not working” can mean anything from a crash to a missing subscription. Test the specific feature that fails, rather than assuming every problem has the same cause. Tinder groups its own help topics around login, crashes, Discovery, location, matches, messaging and billing in its troubleshooting center.

Is Tinder down, or is the problem on your device?
- Try Tinder.com. Sign in and check the same feature that is failing in the app. If the website works while the app does not, an app-specific issue is more likely; this is a useful diagnostic inference, not a guarantee.
- Switch networks. Open another site or app, then test Tinder on Wi-Fi and cellular data. If you use a VPN, private DNS, ad-blocking profile or restrictive firewall, temporarily turn it off as a diagnostic test, then restore it.
- Check whether one feature or everything fails. For example, a working login with an empty Discovery screen points to a different set of checks than a login that fails on both app and web.
- Try again later if the failure is widespread. A single report or a failure on one device does not establish a global outage. Tinder’s help pages provide troubleshooting guidance, but they do not confirm a live outage. Do not assume Tinder is down for everyone without a current incident source.
Try the safest general fixes in order
- Check your connection: switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data. Tinder recommends these connection checks for app crashes in its crash troubleshooting guidance.
- Update Tinder: install the available version from the App Store or Google Play. Tinder asks users to use the latest version before submitting a technical issue through its support form.
- Force-close and reopen: on iPhone, open the app switcher and swipe Tinder away. On Android, dismiss it from recent apps; if needed, use Settings → Apps → Tinder → Force stop. Reopen it and retry the same action.
- Restart your phone: this can clear temporary device or network problems, though it is not a guaranteed fix.
- Reinstall Tinder: Tinder recommends deleting and reinstalling the app for some technical problems. Confirm you know the login method for your account before signing out or reinstalling. Removing the app does not delete your Tinder account.
- Compare with Tinder.com again: if the app still fails, the web version can help narrow down whether the issue is specific to the installation or device.
Tinder’s download page lists support for iOS 16.0 and newer, Android 10.0 and newer, and Tinder.com in current major browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge; it also lists HMS devices. If Tinder crashes or will not open
Use the general fixes above in order: check both network types, update the app, restart the device, reinstall Tinder, then try Tinder.com. Tinder specifically lists connection checks, reinstalling and trying Tinder.com among its crash suggestions (Tinder app-crashing help).

If the app remains unusable, note your phone model, operating-system version, Tinder version, exact error and when the crash occurs. Avoid unofficial APKs, modified clients and services claiming to repair Tinder or remove account restrictions.
If you cannot log in or receive a verification code
SMS code never arrives
- Check the phone number and country code, and confirm you have cellular reception.
- Check whether your phone filters messages or blocks short-code texts.
- Avoid repeatedly requesting codes; delayed messages can make it unclear which code is current.
- If available, try account recovery by email instead. Tinder says phone-number sign-in requires SMS verification.
You changed your number or lost access to Facebook
Tinder’s stated recovery route is to go to Tinder.com, select Log In, choose Trouble Logging In?, then Login With Email, and enter the email associated with the account. If this does not work, contact Tinder Support rather than creating a replacement account that could complicate access to existing data or purchases.
Verification repeats or the camera is blank
A verification loop is not necessarily an app crash. Check camera permission and try the current app or a supported browser, but recognize that Tinder may be asking for a required verification step or reviewing the account. Reinstalling does not establish that an account requirement has been removed.

If profiles are missing or location is wrong
Check location access
Tinder requires device location access for app use; Tinder.com relies on browser site permissions. Tinder’s location-permission instructions give these paths:
- iPhone: Settings → Tinder → Location → While Using the App. Also check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
- Android: Settings → Apps → Tinder → Permissions → Location → Only while using the app.
- Tinder.com: allow location in the browser’s site permissions. Tinder says Safari private browsing on iPhone blocks location services for Tinder.com.
Check Discovery settings and account status
Review Discovery age and distance settings and make sure the feature is enabled as intended. If the app and website both fail to load profiles, consider whether the account may be under review or whether the service is having a problem; an empty screen alone does not prove a ban or “shadowban.”
Profiles are showing far away
Far-away profiles are not automatically evidence of a location bug. Tinder lists Passport use by another member, a subscriber’s recent location change, and profiles slightly outside the selected distance as possible explanations. After a subscriber changes location, profiles from the previous city may continue appearing for up to 24 hours. Check Profile icon → Settings → Discovery → Maximum Distance. If the location still seems technically wrong, Tinder suggests logging out and back in, then reinstalling if needed. Details are in Tinder’s explanation of far-away profiles.

If messages will not send
- Check whether the conversation still appears and whether another conversation behaves differently.
- Switch between Wi-Fi and cellular data, then try Tinder.com.
- Update or reinstall the app if the issue appears app-specific.
- Consider whether the account is under review or restricted if other account functions also fail.
- Record the exact error and time of the failure before contacting support.
Tinder lists message-sending problems as a troubleshooting topic, but the available guidance does not establish a single cause or detailed universal procedure. A message appearing in your interface is not, by itself, proof that the recipient received it.
If matches disappeared or are not loading
First check that you signed in with the same login method and account you previously used. A missing match may reflect an unmatch or the other person deleting their account; it can also be a temporary synchronization issue or account-status problem. The symptom alone does not prove an outage or account restriction.
Do not delete your account as a routine fix. Tinder says account deletion permanently removes matches, messages, photos and related account information; logging in again within 90 days does not simply restore them. If a subscription or paid feature is missing
Restore a purchase made through Apple or Google
- Open Tinder and tap the profile icon.
- Open Settings and scroll down.
- Select Restore Purchase or Restore purchases; wording can vary by platform.
Tinder says restoring reconnects an existing eligible purchase and does not create a new charge. It does not restore already-used consumables such as Boosts or Super Likes. See Tinder’s subscription-access instructions and its purchase restoration guidance.
Restore a purchase made on Tinder.com or by direct payment
Sign in at Tinder.com, open the profile menu and choose Manage Payment Account or Restore Purchases. Enter the Restore Token in the purchase confirmation email; Tinder says it begins with “RT.”
The subscription is tied to another account
Tinder says a subscription can be associated with only one Tinder account at a time. If Tinder reports that it is tied to an existing account, make sure you are signed into the account that owns it. Tinder’s documented process for moving a purchase may involve deleting the old account, which permanently removes that account’s data. If you are unsure which account owns the subscription, contact support before taking that step. See Tinder’s instructions for purchase-restore issues.

You switched between iPhone and Android
Tinder recommends canceling the current subscription and subscribing again on the new mobile platform after switching between iOS and Android. Check the original billing platform for cancellation so you do not leave an unwanted renewal active.
Premium cannot fix a technical failure
Plus, Gold and Platinum provide different features, but a paid tier does not repair a crash, login failure, location permission or account restriction. Tinder notes that feature availability may vary by market or testing. Check its subscription feature information before assuming a feature should be present.
Distinguish a technical issue from review or a ban
If Tinder displays an explicit review, verification or ban notice, treat it as an account-status issue rather than repeatedly reinstalling. Tinder says bans may result from violations of its Terms of Use or Community Guidelines and directs users who believe a ban was incorrect to its Appeal Center through its support route. Do not try to evade a restriction with a new number, modified app, VPN or another person’s account.
When to contact Tinder Support
If the issue persists after the relevant checks, submit it through Tinder’s request form. Include enough detail to distinguish an app problem from an account or billing problem:
