The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge went on sale in the U.S. on May 30, 2025, at a launch price of $1,099.99 for 256GB or $1,219.99 for 512GB. Its defining feature is a 5.8mm-thin, 163g body; the trade-offs include a smaller 3,900mAh battery, 25W wired charging and no dedicated telephoto camera. It is a niche flagship for people who value lightness more than battery endurance or camera range.
Galaxy S25 Edge release date, price and availability
Samsung opened preorders on May 12, 2025, and general U.S. sales began May 30. Samsung announced availability through Samsung.com and the Shop Samsung app, Amazon, Best Buy and nationwide wireless carriers. The launch date and pricing were confirmed in Samsung’s launch announcement and its availability announcement.

Samsung’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP file still listed those prices, but MSRP is not necessarily what a buyer pays. Carrier financing, trade-in credits, retailer promotions, open-box listings and inventory can change the effective cost. Check the live listing for the exact storage tier, color, seller and purchase terms.

What the S25 Edge offers
The Edge combines a 6.7-inch display with a Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor and 12GB of RAM. Storage options are 256GB and 512GB. At 5.8mm thick and 163g, it is designed to make a large-screen Samsung phone feel unusually slim and light. Samsung lists a titanium frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 front glass; these materials do not make the phone unbreakable.

The rear camera system consists of a 200MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide, alongside a 12MP front camera. The main camera’s resolution can capture detailed images, but it does not substitute for a dedicated telephoto lens: zoom relies on cropping or digital processing rather than a separate optical zoom camera. The phone launched with Android 15 and One UI 7.

Samsung’s engineering work on the internal layout, lightweight components and heat-dissipation structure helps explain how it achieved the slim form, but the design still leaves less room for battery capacity than in bulkier models. What thinness costs in everyday use
Less battery headroom
The 3,900mAh capacity is the most obvious compromise. Battery life varies with signal strength, brightness, refresh rate, gaming, navigation and camera use, so a single “all-day” promise would be misleading. Moderate users may find it adequate, while heavy gaming, frequent video recording, long stretches on mobile data or days away from a charger are more likely to make the smaller battery matter. The S25+ and S25 Ultra have larger batteries.
Slower wired charging
Wired charging tops out at 25W, compared with 45W on the S25 Ultra. The Edge’s smaller battery does not therefore mean it has the fastest top-ups in Samsung’s flagship range.

Fewer camera options
The 200MP main camera is the headline, but there is no dedicated telephoto camera. If you regularly photograph distant subjects, want optical zoom, or value a versatile multi-lens system, the S25 Ultra is a better match. The Edge is more suitable for people whose everyday photos mostly use the main camera and ultrawide.
A premium price for a specialized benefit
At launch, the Edge cost $200 less than the S25 Ultra’s $1,299.99 starting MSRP, while giving up battery capacity, camera flexibility and S Pen functionality. That does not make either phone the universal better buy: the Edge’s advantage is its low weight and thin profile, while the Ultra’s price buys a broader feature set.
Which Galaxy should you choose?

Consider the Edge if you will notice and appreciate its light, slim body every day, want a large screen, mostly use the main camera, and are comfortable with its battery capacity. A meaningful discount can improve the value case. Consider the S25+ if you want a large Samsung flagship with fewer portability compromises, the Ultra if zoom and the S Pen matter, or the standard S25 if lower cost and a smaller phone are priorities.
Before ordering, confirm whether the device is unlocked or carrier-specific, check network compatibility and SIM support, and review the full terms of any trade-in or bill-credit offer. A case may also reduce some of the ergonomic benefit of an exceptionally thin phone.
