Samsung Health is not cancelling every fitness programme. Samsung’s notice, reported by Android Authority, says two categories are being discontinued when a new Samsung Health app version arrives: programmes delivered as downloads in the Fitness Program section, and programmes uploaded before December 31, 2022. Content offered through real-time streaming is expected to remain accessible.
That means the major change is the delivery method, not the disappearance of all workout content. However, Samsung has not published a precise completion date, a universal migration process, or confirmation that every retired download will receive a streamed equivalent.
What Samsung Health is discontinuing
| Content | Current status |
|---|---|
| Download-based programmes in Fitness Programmes | Being discontinued |
| Programmes uploaded before December 31, 2022 | Being discontinued |
| Real-time streamed content | Expected to remain accessible |
| Completed-workout history and other health records | Not confirmed as affected |
The wording matters. Samsung is not saying that all exercise videos, plans, or fitness tracking are being deleted. A plan may remain in Samsung Health but require an internet connection rather than local playback. Conversely, a programme can disappear even though your completed sessions and measurements remain in your account.
Samsung’s notice does not establish that every file already downloaded to a phone or TV will automatically be converted into a stream. It also does not confirm that a programme uploaded before the cutoff will be recreated in the current catalogue.

Why the app is moving toward streaming
Samsung’s U.S. support instructions describe a workflow in which users select workout content from the Fitness tab, download a programme, and then start it. That download-first model is the type of access affected by the notice. Samsung appears to be shifting toward server-delivered, real-time playback, which lets it update catalogues and support partner content without maintaining permanent local copies.
Streaming is convenient, but it changes the practical experience:
- Internet required: poor Wi-Fi, travel, or mobile-data limits can interrupt a session.
- Offline access may end: a programme that worked on a flight or in a gym without connectivity may no longer do so.
- Catalogues can change: a streamed class can be removed or replaced without preserving your exact downloaded version.
- Accounts may matter: Samsung Health, TV, and partner services can require separate sign-ins or subscriptions.
Samsung’s TV and Smart Monitor documentation specifically requires an internet connection and Samsung Account for that experience, and says Samsung Health version 6.15 or later requires account sign-in for TV use. Availability also varies by device, region, and app version.
Are your progress and health records being deleted?
There is no verified evidence that this programme retirement deletes Samsung Health history. The notice addresses programme services and content formats, not completed workouts, steps, calories, heart-rate measurements, goals, or achievements.
Treat these as separate questions:
- Programme availability: can you still open the plan or class?
- Health-data retention: do your completed sessions and measurements remain in Samsung Health?
Samsung has not published a universal guarantee for every app version and region. Do not uninstall Samsung Health as a first troubleshooting step. If records are important, ensure the app is syncing with the correct Samsung Account and use Samsung’s official data-download or account-sync features where available. The TV support page explains that Samsung Health data can be downloaded to phone storage in relevant workflows.

How to check whether your programme is affected
- Open Samsung Health and select the Fitness tab.
- Find the programme by name, trainer, or category.
- Try opening it while connected to the internet. Check whether it now plays as streamed content instead of offering a download.
- If it is missing, look in the programme history or saved-content area, if those options exist in your version.
- Record the programme name, trainer, schedule, and sessions completed before updating or changing devices.
- Check that your phone, TV, and wearable use the intended Samsung Account.
Labels can differ by country, account, device, and rollout stage. If an update is offered, first decide whether offline access is still essential. Samsung has not documented a single recovery menu that restores every discontinued download.
If a programme has disappeared
Use this order of checks:
- Confirm that Samsung Health is online and signed into the expected account.
- Check the Fitness tab and search for a streamed version.
- Look on another compatible Samsung device, such as the mobile app versus a supported TV or Smart Monitor.
- Update Samsung Health through the Galaxy Store or Google Play if you are ready for the new app version.
- Check the app’s history and your Samsung Health records separately; a missing video does not prove that workout history was erased.
- Contact Samsung support with the programme name, trainer, device model, app version, country, and screenshots.
A programme may appear in search but fail to start because its downloadable format has been retired. Partner content may also be visible but locked after a subscription expires.

Samsung is simultaneously expanding Samsung Health around personalized guidance. Its 2026 announcement describes a five-pillar layout—Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness, and Vitals—plus features such as:
- Vitals: sleep-related measures including heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen.
- Heart Health Score and Daily Cardio Load.
- Fitness Index, using measures such as heart rate, VO₂ max, and daily steps.
- Personalized goals and wellness recommendations.
Samsung said the major update would begin rolling out June 8, 2026, with some capabilities requiring Samsung Health 7.0, Android 10 or later, a Samsung Account, and a compatible Galaxy Watch with the relevant One UI software. Features are intended for general wellness, not diagnosis or treatment.
These tools can help users who prefer adaptive recommendations, but they are not necessarily replacements for a fixed multi-week plan such as couch-to-5K, a progressive strength course, or a downloadable trainer-led schedule. Samsung and iFIT have also described a Health Assistant beta for eligible U.S. users; beta availability should not be treated as universal.

What remains available?
Streaming inside Samsung Health
This is the closest continuation for users who want to stay in Samsung’s ecosystem. It may be free and keeps tracking in Samsung Health, but catalogue, device, and regional availability can change. It is a poor fit if you train where connectivity is unreliable.
iFIT through Samsung Health
Samsung’s iFIT integration covers HIIT, Pilates, yoga, strength, recovery, barre, and mindfulness. Samsung said users receive one on-demand video per month in each category at no cost, while subscribers receive a larger catalogue. Compatible Galaxy Watches can show workout duration, heart rate, and calories.
Samsung’s announcement published a price signal of $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year; verify the live price, trial, renewal, and cancellation terms at iFIT before subscribing. iFIT is a good fit for guided classes and structured trainer content, not for permanent ownership of Samsung’s retired downloads.
Samsung Health on a TV or Smart Monitor
Samsung says its TV platform supports workout content, routines, challenges, and partner services on most Samsung TVs released after 2020 and compatible Smart Monitors. It requires internet access and a Samsung Account, and some partner material is subscription-based. Mobile, TV, and Galaxy Watch experiences are not identical, so a class available on one device may not appear on another.
A separate fitness service
Choose another app if your priority is offline playback, a detailed progression plan, exportable history, or a specialist running, strength, or yoga curriculum. Compare offline support, Samsung Health or Health Connect integration, watch compatibility, free versus subscription content, data export, and renewal terms. Do not assume that a categorized video library provides genuine progressive coaching.

- Stay with Samsung Health: streamed classes and integrated tracking meet your needs, and you do not require offline playback.
- Try iFIT: you want trainer-led classes across several categories and accept a subscription for a larger catalogue.
- Use a specialist app: you need a complete running or strength progression plan, offline access, or stronger export controls.
- Do not buy hardware solely for this change: the evidence does not show that a Galaxy Watch or Samsung TV is required to replace a retired programme.
What Samsung has not clarified
- The exact date the retirement will finish for every user.
- Whether each affected programme will have a streamed equivalent.
- Whether programme history will remain visible in every app version.
- Whether the policy applies identically outside the United States.
- Whether Samsung will migrate or restore any legacy plans.
The safest approach is to document important plans now, test for streamed access, protect your account and health-data sync, and avoid assuming that a missing programme means your workout history has been deleted.
