HMD announced the Pulse+ Business Edition on May 15, 2024, at a European launch price of €199. Its business pitch paired a budget Android phone with HMD FOTA, a service for centrally controlling software updates across a fleet. The price is historical, not a confirmed 2026 offer; current stock and FOTA pricing have not been verified.
Two parts to the business offer
The HMD Pulse+ Business Edition was the handset: an entry-level 4G Android phone with enterprise-oriented setup options, a repairability focus and extended security support. HMD FOTA—Firmware-Over-The-Air—was the separate fleet software-update service. HMD said it was available to enterprise customers, but did not publish a standalone per-device or monthly price in its launch announcement.
FOTA was intended to let IT administrators control Android software versions centrally: they could require updates, schedule them for quieter periods, or defer updates where compatibility needed to be checked. That is useful update orchestration, but the announcement does not establish FOTA as a complete mobile-device-management or unified-endpoint-management platform. It does not provide a full feature list confirming application allowlisting, compliance reporting, remote lock or location tracking. Some secondary coverage describes app management, but HMD’s primary description focuses on Android software versions. HMD’s launch announcement is the clearest source for the stated service scope.

HMD said the Business Edition was available immediately in Midnight Blue when it launched in May 2024; contemporaneous reports described availability across Europe. The €199 price is the European launch price, not evidence of a current sale price. Availability, taxes, warranty terms, repair options and network compatibility can vary by country. A current regional listing should be checked before procurement. The product’s presence in HMD support materials does not establish that it is still in stock, and a U.S. support channel does not prove the Business Edition was sold or fully supported there as an enterprise product.

The specifications come from the official Business Edition datasheet. They describe a fleet utility phone, not a performance-focused enterprise handset. The T606, HD+ screen, 10W charging and absence of 5G are cost-saving trade-offs; demanding applications, heavy multitasking and graphics-intensive work may be a poor match. The 50MP figure alone does not establish camera quality.
HMD advertised up to 59 hours of battery life based on its own usage test, which used a defined five-hours-per-day pattern and a new battery; it is not a guaranteed runtime for every workload. HMD also claimed the battery retains at least 80% capacity after 800 full charge cycles under its testing. Capacity still declines over time, and a replaceable battery will eventually need replacement. The memory-extension figure is not equivalent to 6GB of physical RAM: it uses storage, requires sufficient free space, and HMD says the feature can become permanently disabled after 90% of its usage limit is reached.

The hybrid SIM slot also means a buyer chooses between two SIMs and one SIM plus microSD. The datasheet lists network bands, but procurement teams should verify the exact regional model against carrier bands, VoLTE, roaming and any local network shutdowns. IP52 is limited splash and dust protection, not waterproofing or protection against immersion.
What FOTA changes for an IT team
Ordinary over-the-air updates notify or update an individual phone; HMD positioned FOTA as a way to manage update timing across multiple devices from one place. That can help a business avoid every employee installing an update at the busiest point in a shift, while still giving administrators a path to mandate a patch.

- Require updates when the organization decides a release should be installed.
- Schedule updates for quieter periods to reduce disruption.
- Defer or skip an update when a compatibility issue needs investigation.
Deferral is not risk-free: postponing a security update leaves devices exposed to issues it may address. A sensible fleet policy tests releases against business-critical apps, sets a maximum deferral window and records exceptions. HMD’s launch material does not provide public FOTA pricing, service-level terms, enrollment instructions or a complete capability matrix, so buyers should confirm these directly before treating it as part of a deployment plan.
Security and deployment: useful controls, not a compliance guarantee
HMD listed network lockdown, PIN-only power-off, PIN-pad scramble, the ability to disable biometric authentication during setup, secure folders, disguised mode, encryption and remote wipe. The datasheet also lists Android Enterprise Recommended status and zero-touch enrollment. Together, these features can support a managed rollout, but they do not by themselves specify the organization’s full security architecture.

Separate the responsibilities: the handset supplies device-level controls; zero-touch enrollment and Android Enterprise support help provision devices; the customer still needs an appropriate enterprise mobility-management platform, identity policies, app controls, carrier arrangements and compliance procedures. Android Enterprise Recommended is a deployment signal, not proof that the phone or the FOTA service meets every regulated-workload requirement.

HMD said data collected from its global phone and tablet variants was stored and processed on Google Cloud Platform in the European Union and described this as complying with GDPR requirements. That is HMD’s corporate data-handling claim, not a certification of a customer’s deployment. GDPR compliance also depends on the organization’s contracts, configuration, data types, access controls, retention and lawful processing.

Repairability and support over the fleet lifecycle
HMD’s repair-it-yourself approach covers the display, charging port, rear cover and battery. HMD said genuine parts, tools and step-by-step guides were available through official repair partners including iFixit and Gsmnet, alongside DHL Express Door-to-Door Care for professional repairs. The launch offer also included a three-year warranty. Check the applicable regional warranty and partner availability rather than assuming the same terms in every country.
Repairability can reduce device downtime and replacement waste, particularly for a business with trained technicians and a planned stock of parts. It is not automatic savings: labor, training, failed repairs, spare inventory, device-data handling and downtime all affect total cost. HMD’s repair guidance says unofficial parts or tools may affect limited-warranty coverage for supported devices; consult the regional terms before opening a fleet device. The support promise is also easy to misread: the datasheet specifies two years of OS upgrades and five years of quarterly security updates from global launch. Five years of security coverage does not mean five years of Android version upgrades. For a long-lived fleet, buyers should weigh that distinction against the application and platform features they expect to need.

Procurement checklist
- Confirm the exact regional model, current stock and total landed cost; do not use the 2024 €199 launch price as a current quote.
- Ask HMD for FOTA eligibility, pricing, supported controls, service terms and whether it integrates with the organization’s existing Android Enterprise or UEM setup.
- Test required business apps on the T606 hardware and check storage needs, especially if staff capture substantial photos or video.
- Verify carrier bands, VoLTE, roaming, SIM configuration and local network support for every deployment market.
- Model repair economics using local parts availability, technician time, warranty rules, turnaround and replacement-device needs.
- Set an update-testing process and a defined limit for deferring security patches.
