GameSir says its GameHub software has significantly improved Windows-game support on Android devices with MediaTek Dimensity 9000–9400 processors and Mali GPUs. The update targets DirectX 9–11 games and could make local PC-game emulation more practical on these phones. But the headline claim needs context: GameSir has said performance can match or exceed some Qualcomm Adreno devices, while the available reporting does not provide independent, repeatable benchmarks showing that result across games.

What changed in GameHub?

On July 28, 2025, GameSir announced improved support for Mali-powered Android devices in GameHub, also referred to in the announcement as GameFusion. The company named MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 through Dimensity 9400 series and said the work focuses on Windows games using DirectX 9 to DirectX 11. Android Authority’s report covers the announcement and its qualifications.

These games run locally on the Android device; they are not being streamed from a remote PC. That does not mean Windows runs natively on the phone. A compatibility stack must translate Windows software instructions for Arm hardware and convert graphics work, such as DirectX calls, into commands the Android GPU can handle. GameSir’s reported description of “native support” for 32-bit PC games should therefore not be read as native Windows execution.

GameSir attributed earlier Mali difficulties to Vulkan limitations, unstable shader compilation, missing driver capabilities, resource scheduling, and the conversion of DirectX instructions for Mali GPUs. Those are the company’s explanations, not independently measured findings. The stated improvement is best understood as work across software, translation, runtime, and driver support—not a hardware upgrade to the Dimensity chips.

Which Dimensity chips are in scope?

The announcement’s reported range is Dimensity 9000–9400, covering the 9000, 9000+, 9200, 9200+, 9300, 9300+, and 9400 families. It does not establish equivalent support for Dimensity 8000-series or lower-end chips, nor does naming a chip guarantee that every phone using it will perform the same.

Phones differ in cooling, memory, firmware, power limits, and software versions. Even the GPU generation varies across this multi-year range. For one example, MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ specifications list an Arm Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. That specification is useful context, but it cannot predict how a particular game will run on a particular handset.

GameSir later confirmed that Pixel phones would benefit too, according to Android Authority. Treat that as a broad compatibility statement rather than proof of equal performance across Pixel models; results depend on each phone’s GPU, drivers, cooling, and game.

Why Snapdragon has usually been the safer emulation choice

Snapdragon phones have benefited from the Adreno GPU and a more established community driver path. In particular, Turnip has helped users build DXVK/Vulkan workflows for Adreno devices in tools such as Winlator. Winlator’s official site describes the project as optimized for Snapdragon and points to Turnip for Adreno, while warning that MediaTek and Exynos support is less straightforward.

That is an ecosystem advantage, not a guarantee that every Snapdragon phone or game will work. Newer or less-supported Adreno generations can also need workarounds, and compatibility varies by title. Still, community testing and driver options have made Snapdragon a lower-risk choice for people who primarily want to experiment with Windows games on Android.

Does “comparable to Adreno” mean Dimensity now wins?

No universal conclusion is supported by the public evidence described in the announcement coverage. GameSir claims that DirectX 9–11 performance can be comparable to Qualcomm Adreno devices and can exceed them in some scenarios. The reports do not provide a standardized test table with game names, phone models, Snapdragon comparison chips, resolution, settings, driver versions, sustained frame-time data, or thermal conditions.

So “massive improvement” is a fair description of GameSir’s announced effort, especially if it means more games work or work more consistently. It is not proof of a fixed FPS gain or across-the-board parity. A Dimensity phone may do well in one supported game and poorly in another because graphics APIs, drivers, shader behavior, CPU translation, and thermals all affect the result.

Compatibility is not the same as playability. A useful way to judge reports is to distinguish games that (1) launch and play reliably, (2) are playable only with reduced resolution or settings, (3) launch but have glitches, stutter, or crashes, and (4) do not launch. A successful splash screen is not evidence that the game is playable for a full session.

Which games are realistic?

The clearest target is DirectX 9–11, not every Windows game. Older and less demanding titles are a more sensible starting point than modern, graphics-heavy releases. DX12 support should not be inferred from the announcement, and games that depend on anti-cheat, DRM, a particular launcher, unsupported instructions, or specific graphics extensions may fail regardless of the phone’s raw power.

Other likely trouble spots include shader-heavy games, demanding Unreal Engine titles, broken graphics, unstable audio or input, and long sessions that expose heat or memory limits. Game launchers and anti-cheat can be barriers in their own right. The exact game, GameHub build, and phone configuration matter more than a broad claim about a processor family.

GameHub or Winlator?

GameHub’s announcement is notable because it specifically targets Mali-based Dimensity devices and presents a more curated route for users who want to try local PC games. Winlator gives enthusiasts more visible control over containers, renderers, and compatibility settings, but its official materials still emphasize Snapdragon.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For Winlator users on Mali, renderer options and results are more limited. The Winlator@Frost documentation describes VirGL as a broadly compatible option for Mali, particularly for DirectDraw, DX8, DX9, and lower OpenGL workloads, while DX10/DX11 support is selective and DX12 through VKD3D is described as non-working in that configuration. These are Winlator-specific notes, not GameHub settings or guarantees.

For a Winlator setup, consult the official download and guidance page rather than relying on random APK mirrors. The project lists Android 9+, ARM64, Vulkan 1.1+, and about 6 GB RAM as a practical baseline for 3D gaming. Its general advice also includes per-game settings, lowering resolution, and using alternatives such as CNC DDraw, WineD3D, or D8VK for some older games. That baseline does not guarantee a particular game will run.

Question GameHub/GameFusion Winlator
Who is the announced update aimed at? Users of selected Mali-powered Dimensity 9000–9400 devices, with DirectX 9–11 as the stated focus. Android users generally; official guidance is more favorable to Snapdragon/Adreno.
How much setup is involved? Presented as a more curated way to run PC games. More hands-on: containers, renderer choices, and per-game tuning.
What is the evidence caveat? The claimed performance improvement is primarily vendor-reported. There is public configuration guidance, but Mali compatibility remains uneven and game-specific.

How to test a game on your phone

  1. Record your setup. Note the exact phone, chip, RAM, Android version, and GameHub or Winlator build. Do not treat all phones with the same processor as identical.
  2. Start with a modest target. Try a known older DX9 or less demanding DX11 game, and begin at a low resolution such as 720p or below.
  3. Change one setting at a time. Use a game-specific profile where available. If graphics are corrupted or the game crashes, a different renderer or compatibility layer may help, but there is no single setting that fixes every title.
  4. Test a sustained session. Check again after 15–30 minutes. Record not only average FPS, but frame pacing, shader stutter, crashes, audio, input latency, and heat.
  5. Compare fairly. For a Snapdragon comparison, use similar RAM, cooling, resolution, and game settings. A cooled gaming phone should not be treated as a clean chipset comparison against a thin phone.
  6. Separate first-run stutter from repeat performance. Restart the game and test again; shader compilation can make an initial run behave differently.

Common problems and what they suggest

  • The game launches with broken graphics: A driver limitation, unsupported Vulkan extension, shader issue, or renderer mismatch may be responsible. Try another available renderer or compatibility layer, lower resolution, and check whether another build changes the result. A graphics fault alone does not prove the chip lacks raw power.
  • The game works briefly, then crashes: Possible causes include thermal throttling, memory pressure, CPU-translation instability, game-engine behavior, DRM, or unsupported instruction extensions. A short launch is not proof of sustained playability.
  • An update makes performance worse: Compatibility tools can change shader handling, driver selection, translation defaults, and game-specific behavior. Where legally and safely possible, keep track of the app version and configuration so you can compare like with like.
  • Touch controls are awkward: Many PC games expect a keyboard and mouse or a gamepad. A Bluetooth or USB-C controller, keyboard, or mouse may be needed; input mapping depends on the frontend and game.

Use game files you are legally entitled to use and respect publisher licenses. An emulation tool does not provide a game license or make DRM circumvention permissible.

Custom Mali drivers: planned, not a delivered result

GameSir said it was working with MediaTek on custom Mali drivers for GameFusion, but the cited announcement coverage gave no release timetable. Do not assume those drivers are already available. Even if released, custom drivers could improve the graphics path without resolving problems caused by CPU translation, game engines, DRM, heat, memory, or controls. Notebookcheck’s coverage also summarizes the driver and Mali-related claims.

Should you choose Dimensity or Snapdragon?

A Dimensity 9000–9400 phone is now a more credible option for local Windows-game experimentation than it was when Mali support was a larger obstacle. It may make sense if the device is a good value, has enough memory and cooling, and the games you care about are already reported to work on that specific setup.

Choose Snapdragon if PC-game emulation is a primary buying criterion and you want the broader, more established driver and community ecosystem. That is the lower-risk choice, not a promise that every title will run. If you want modern AAA games without local compatibility troubleshooting and have reliable low-latency internet, cloud gaming or remote streaming is a separate alternative; it does not demonstrate that the phone can run those games locally.
