Bell no longer publicly lists the $39-per-month, 50GB 5G add-a-line offer. Bell’s consumer plan pages checked on August 18, 2026, show newer Select and Ultra plans instead. That establishes that the old offer is not available for a new activation through Bell’s public storefront; it does not prove Bell has cancelled the plan for customers who already have it.
Bell has not publicly identified an exact withdrawal date in the material available here. Treat the change as a disappearance from public signup pages, and confirm your account’s treatment before changing anything.
What changed
The former $39/50GB 5G additional-line offer is absent from Bell’s current consumer lineup. Bell’s live plan page now promotes Select, Max and Ultra plans with discounts that depend on factors such as the number of lines, Bell Internet service, Autopay, promotional credits and whether you bring a phone or finance one. The available evidence supports this precise conclusion: the $39 offer is no longer publicly listed for new signups as of August 18, 2026. It does not establish when Bell withdrew it, whether Bell issued a formal announcement, or whether existing subscribers were migrated.

What the old $39 plan actually included
Public Bell pages currently available do not preserve enough contemporaneous information to verify every condition of the historical offer. Before treating “$39/50GB 5G” as a standard rate, check the original offer, your order confirmation or an archived Bell page for:
- whether $39 was the price after a temporary credit or other discounts;
- whether it was BYOD-only and restricted to an existing Bell account or qualifying primary line;
- whether the 50GB was individual high-speed data, shareable data or a hotspot allowance;
- whether data was Canada-only or included roaming;
- Autopay, Bell Internet, province, line-count or activation requirements; and
- taxes, device payments and other charges excluded from the advertised monthly amount.
Those distinctions matter. Bell’s current plans, for example, can advertise unlimited on-device data while limiting high-speed data or hotspot use separately. “50GB” is not automatically comparable across plan families.
Closest current Bell alternatives
These are the closest publicly listed options, not a formal replacement announced by Bell. Prices below are the displayed offers on Bell’s BYOD page when checked August 18, 2026; your checkout price may differ.

Bell says eligible customers can save up to $40 per month per line on some BYOD multi-line offers. That is a maximum for specified offers, not a universal $39 rate. Bell also advertises a separate discount structure for phone purchases, so do not apply the BYOD discount to a financed-device quote.
Why the prices are difficult to compare
Bell’s displayed monthly figures can combine several credits:
- Autopay savings;
- a Bell Internet bundle credit (Bell says Internet customers save $10 per month when activating their first eligible plan);
- temporary promotional credits;
- additional-line credits; and
- different discounts for BYOD versus buying or financing a phone.
The BYOD page shows different totals for one, two, three and four lines. Bell’s phone-purchase page contains separate offer modules, including displayed additional-line savings of up to $30 in one section and up to $25 in another context, plus line-specific credits. These are offer mechanics, not one universal rate card. Taxes, device payments, financing balances, upfront costs and trade-in requirements can all change the final bill.

Bell’s “unlimited” wording also has limits: after a high-speed allowance, data may continue at up to 512Kbps, and hotspot allowances can be capped separately. 5G/5G+ requires a compatible device and rate plan, and coverage and speeds vary by location and network conditions.
Can existing customers keep the $39 plan?
Possibly, but public availability does not answer the question. A plan disappearing from Bell’s signup page normally shows that new activations are no longer offered; it does not by itself cancel an existing subscription. Your $39 price could be a grandfathered rate, a recurring credit, or a promotion with an expiry date, and each behaves differently.
Before changing the primary line, adding a device, restructuring the account or accepting a new plan, ask Bell to confirm:

- the exact name of your current plan and every credit producing the $39 price;
- whether the plan is grandfathered and can remain active;
- whether a new additional line can still receive the legacy rate;
- whether changing the primary line, financing a phone or moving account types removes eligibility;
- whether a temporary credit has an expiry date; and
- whether you can return to the old plan if you change it.
Bell allows plan changes through MyBell, subject to account terms, but that is not a promise that a discontinued plan can be restored. Save a chat transcript or written confirmation and verify the price in the final checkout screen before accepting any change.

Stay on the legacy plan
This is usually the lowest-cost choice if the existing line still meets your needs. It may preserve grandfathered pricing, but Bell may refuse to add another line at that rate, and an expiring credit or account change could alter the bill.

This is the closest Canada-only BYOD comparison for a family member using roughly 50–60GB. Confirm the price without Bell Internet, without Autopay and with your actual line count so the comparison with $39 is honest.

Choose Select 100GB with U.S. roaming
Pay the higher rate only if the line will regularly use U.S. service. The 5GB-per-day roaming allowance and Canada/U.S. calling can be more valuable than simply having extra Canadian data.
Choose Ultra
Ultra suits customers who will use U.S./Mexico roaming, international calling or the included extras. It is not a cost-effective substitute if the goal is merely a cheap domestic additional line.
Buy a phone through Bell
Separate the service decision from the handset decision. Compare the total monthly cost of the plan, device financing, any down payment, trade-in credit and the amount owed if you leave early. Bell’s financed-device offers are not directly comparable with BYOD pricing.

Consider prepaid
Bell directs customers seeking prepaid service to Lucky Mobile. That can suit someone prioritizing a lower-commitment arrangement, but it will not reproduce Bell account-level discounts, premium roaming or a grandfathered Bell plan.
Account-check checklist
- Open MyBell and screenshot the plan name, monthly rate and credits.
- Check whether the $39 amount is a base rate or a time-limited promotion.
- Ask Bell whether adding a line preserves the old offer.
- Request the exact post-change price, including taxes, before authorizing a migration.
- Ask whether the old plan can be reinstated; assume it cannot unless Bell confirms that in writing.
- Compare the same conditions—BYOD or financed phone, Autopay, Bell Internet, line count and roaming—against any new quote.
Timeline and what is still unknown
- Original launch: Not established by the currently available Bell pages; use the contemporaneous report or an archived Bell document for this date.
- First report and disappearance: Bell’s public pages now omit the offer, but no verified formal withdrawal date is available here.
- Replacement: Bell currently displays Select and Ultra families with multi-line discounts rather than a single $39 add-a-line rate.
- Current check: Bell consumer pages were checked August 18, 2026.
Bell pages can retain stale offer-end labels and crossed-out reference prices. Treat those labels as historical or promotional context and rely on the live, account-specific checkout total.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Bell’s $39/50GB 5G add-a-line plan appears gone for new public activations, but that does not prove existing customers have lost it. Protect the legacy line by confirming its grandfathered status, credits and return rights before switching; otherwise, compare the current Select plans on the same BYOD, bundle and line-count assumptions.
