In the U.S., expect to pay about $200–$330 for an iPhone 13 in 2026, depending on condition, storage, battery health and carrier status. A typical unlocked 128GB model averaged about $285 on Swappa (observed July 31, 2026), while an unlocked refurbished example was listed at about $230 on Back Market. The phone originally launched at $799 in 2021, but that is no longer its normal market price.
Prices below are U.S. snapshots observed around August 16, 2026; marketplace listings, taxes and promotions change.

Swappa’s overall iPhone 13 listings showed a starting price of $206 and an average of $288. Those figures combine different capacities, conditions and carrier statuses, so they are useful benchmarks rather than guaranteed checkout prices. See the current Swappa price data.

Apple introduced the standard 6.1-inch iPhone 13 in September 2021 with a starting U.S. price of $799 before trade-in. The base configuration had 128GB of storage, and Apple also offered 256GB and 512GB versions. Apple advertised 24 monthly payments of $33.29 and noted that its headline U.S. price included a $30 carrier instant discount requiring activation, so the exact launch price depended on whether you bought outright or activated through a carrier.

How much is a used iPhone 13 in 2026?
For a normal unlocked 128GB phone in good condition, budget roughly $260–$310, with the observed Swappa average near $285. Lower-priced listings can be legitimate bargains, but they deserve extra scrutiny for battery wear, repaired parts, Activation Lock, financing balances or blacklist status.
Carrier-specific averages on Swappa were approximately $279 for AT&T 128GB, $290 for T-Mobile 128GB and $301 for Verizon 128GB. A carrier listing is not automatically a better deal: check whether it is actually unlocked, still financed or subject to an activation requirement.

How much is a refurbished iPhone 13?
Refurbished prices commonly overlap used prices. A Back Market example showed an unlocked iPhone 13 for $230 before trade-in, with a 30-day return period and one-year warranty. The seller, cosmetic grade, battery-health guarantee and included accessories can change the final price, so compare the individual listing’s terms rather than treating “refurbished” as a uniform standard.
- Manufacturer-refurbished: Usually the clearest testing and warranty terms, but often more expensive and harder to find for an older model.
- Certified third-party refurbished: Can offer good value, although inspection and battery standards vary.
- Seller-refurbished: Often cheapest, with the widest variation in parts and warranty coverage.
- Used: May be inexpensive but can have little or no warranty protection.
Is the iPhone 13 still sold new?
Apple’s U.S. certified-refurbished store reviewed for this price snapshot did not list the standard iPhone 13. It did show newer refurbished models, including a 128GB iPhone 15 at $529 and iPhone 16 at $619. New iPhone 13 units may still exist as retailer or marketplace old stock, but Apple does not provide a stable current official price for them. Paying a large premium for unopened stock is difficult to justify when professionally refurbished alternatives cost much less.

How storage changes the price
The iPhone 13 came in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities. Swappa’s observed unlocked averages were about $285 for 128GB, $288 for 256GB and $325 for 512GB. The 256GB figure came from a smaller listing pool, and condition differences can outweigh storage differences.

The 128GB model is generally the best value for everyday use. Choose 256GB if you record lots of video or keep large offline libraries. The 512GB version makes sense only when its premium is modest and you genuinely need the capacity.
Unlocked versus carrier iPhone 13
An unlocked phone usually costs a little more because it can move between compatible networks. Before paying extra, verify all of the following:

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
- Go to Settings → General → About and confirm Carrier Lock: No SIM restrictions.
- Ask whether the device is fully paid off and not tied to an installment plan.
- Check that its IMEI is clean and not reported lost or stolen.
- Confirm the model supports your U.S. carrier’s bands and features; an imported model may not.
- Read the seller’s return policy and warranty.
“Unlocked” does not by itself prove that the phone is finance-free, blacklist-free or compatible with every carrier.

Add sales tax and shipping to the listing price. You may also need a USB-C power adapter, cable, case and screen protector; Apple did not include a power adapter in the iPhone 13 box. Budget separately for optional AppleCare or other insurance, carrier activation fees and eventual battery replacement. If you finance through a carrier, include interest and the required service plan in your total.
Carrier “free phone” offers are usually bill credits spread across an installment term. They may require a qualifying unlimited plan, a new line, a trade-in, taxes upfront and continued service for the full credit period. Compare the total plan commitment, not just the advertised monthly phone payment.

Used iPhone 13 buying checklist
- Check Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging; favor a strong maximum-capacity reading and no Important Battery Message.
- Make sure the seller signs out of their Apple Account and erases the phone. Never buy a device showing Activation Lock.
- Inspect Settings → General → About for Parts and Service History, model number and carrier-lock status.
- Test Face ID, cameras, speakers, microphones, buttons, charging, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and the display.
- Verify the IMEI with the carrier or marketplace and confirm the phone is not financed or blacklisted.
- Confirm the return window, warranty, included accessories and whether replacement parts are genuine or third-party.
Is an iPhone 13 worth buying?
At roughly $200–$280, an unlocked iPhone 13 with good battery health and a reliable return policy can be an excellent low-cost choice. Above about $300, the deal becomes more conditional: storage, battery condition and warranty should be unusually strong.
Also compare newer certified-refurbished phones. Apple’s observed prices of $529 for an iPhone 15 128GB and $619 for an iPhone 16 128GB are substantially higher, but they buy newer hardware and likely a longer remaining support horizon. Do not assume the cheapest iPhone 13 listing is the best value if a newer refurbished model fits your budget.
