YouPorn’s first Year in Retrospect, released in December 2018, summarized activity on the adult-video platform with more than 4 billion reported visits, more than 14 billion videos viewed, and more than 1 billion searches. The original YouPorn report page is no longer available at its historical address; it now redirects to the site’s homepage.
What the 2018 retrospective was
The report was an annual summary of aggregate YouPorn activity, not a conventional editorial review. Contemporary coverage from XBIZ described it as YouPorn’s inaugural retrospective, published in December 2018. It covered traffic volume, searches, geography, age, gender and device categories.

“Average visit duration” is not the same as average viewing time per video or time spent per user. The accessible coverage supplies no raw data, confidence intervals or methodology, so the rounded “more than” figures should not be converted into precise totals.

The spelling “Francaise” is retained because that is how the contemporary report described it. The surviving sources do not establish whether it was a user-entered spelling, a category label, a translation, or an error in the original graphic.
This is a search ranking, not a survey of preferences. It does not show how many times each term was entered, what users watched afterward, whether searches were repeated, or why a term was selected. No percentage share or complete ranking is available.

The sources do not provide country shares, absolute totals, population-adjusted rates, or a precise definition of “traffic”—for example, whether the list refers to users, sessions or another measure. It describes YouPorn’s audience, not adult-content use in those countries generally.
Age, gender and device claims
KnowTechie’s contemporary account said that ages 25–34 formed the largest reported age group and that tablets represented the largest device category. It did not publish percentages, and the original YouPorn graphic cannot currently be checked. These details are therefore secondary reporting rather than independently verifiable primary statistics.
A contemporaneous Yahoo report described YouPorn’s audience as approximately 71% male and 29% female. That figure should be treated as a reported analytics split, not a complete account of users’ gender identities. The binary categories likely reflected the measurement framework available to the publisher at the time.

How it fit the wider annual-review trend
YouPorn’s report arrived as adult platforms were turning proprietary usage data into public year-end cultural summaries. KnowTechie contrasted the new YouPorn retrospective with Pornhub’s longer-running annual review series, which was reportedly in its sixth year. The comparison provides context, but the platforms’ audiences, definitions and methodologies should not be assumed to match.
What the report cannot tell us
- It does not reveal whether visits mean sessions, users or page visits.
- It does not explain how searches were counted or whether repeated searches were deduplicated.
- It does not provide term-by-term search volumes or demographic percentages beyond figures repeated by secondary coverage.
- It cannot establish why users searched for a term or whether a search led to a completed viewing session.
- It does not support causal claims about news, celebrities, technology or cultural events.
- It should not be generalized to all internet users or all online adult-content consumption.

The historical address, youporn.com/world/youporn-2018-year-in-retrospect/, now redirects to YouPorn’s homepage instead of displaying the retrospective. As a result, the headline figures are better supported than the detailed age, gender and device presentation, which survives mainly through contemporary secondary accounts.
The Bottom Line
YouPorn’s 2018 retrospective documented the scale and broad patterns of one platform’s activity—4+ billion visits, 14+ billion video views and 1+ billion searches—but its missing methodology and unavailable original infographic limit what can responsibly be inferred from the data.
