Deal status: Amazon’s reported $869.99 price was an early Black Friday offer on November 21, 2025—not a confirmed live deal today. It applied to the 2024 Mac mini with an M4 chip, 24GB unified memory and a 512GB SSD, down from a stated $999. That was $130.01 off, or about 13%. Check Amazon’s current listing before buying; its present price and availability have not been verified.
What the Black Friday offer included
The historical offer was for Apple’s standard M4 Mac mini, not the higher-performance M4 Pro model. The configuration had a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD. AppleInsider reported the Amazon price at $869.99 on November 21, 2025, compared with a stated regular price of $999. The report said it was in stock at the time, but that stock and delivery information applied to the 2025 deal period only. See the original deal report.
The discount was a meaningful reduction for this particular memory-and-storage configuration. It was not evidence of an all-time low, and it should not be read as Amazon’s current price. The arithmetic is $130.01 off $999; “about $130 off” is the sensible shorthand.
Is 24GB of unified memory worth choosing?
Apple’s unified memory is shared by the processor and graphics hardware, so the amount available matters when several demanding apps or large projects are open at once. The 24GB option is a reasonable fit for heavier multitasking, development work involving containers or virtual machines, larger photo projects, and audio or other creative applications. It can also provide more capacity headroom if you expect to keep the computer for years. It does not guarantee a particular lifespan or make every everyday task noticeably faster.

For browsing, email, office work, streaming, light coding and basic photo editing, the 16GB base model may be enough. Apple’s U.S. launch price for the entry-level M4 Mac mini was $599, so the historical $869.99 deal asked about $291 more than that base price. In return, this deal configuration offered 8GB more unified memory and twice the SSD capacity—512GB instead of 256GB. Those are different configurations, so weigh the extra capacity against your actual workload and budget. Apple’s launch announcement lists the U.S. starting price.
Memory is not a later upgrade path to count on: choose the capacity you need when purchasing. And 512GB can still fill quickly with large video libraries, games or professional media files. An external SSD can add space, but brings another device and cable.

When the M4 Pro makes more sense
The standard M4’s 24GB configuration is not a substitute for the M4 Pro’s processor and connectivity tier. Apple’s listed base M4 Pro configuration has a 12-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 273GB/s memory bandwidth and Thunderbolt 5; the standard M4 has a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 120GB/s bandwidth and Thunderbolt 4. Both configurations listed by Apple include 24GB unified memory and a 512GB SSD.

For general productivity and moderate creative use, the standard M4 may be the better-value tier. More memory increases capacity; it does not turn an M4 into an M4 Pro. Budget for a desktop setup, not just the computer
The Mac mini is the computer, not a complete workstation bundle. If you do not already have them, budget for a monitor, keyboard and mouse or trackpad. A USB-C hub or adapter may be needed for older USB-A accessories, and an external drive may be useful for extra storage. A 4K monitor or third-party keyboard and mouse can keep the overall cost lower than buying premium accessories automatically. Check the total at checkout, including tax; optional AppleCare coverage and its price should also be assessed at the time of purchase.
Verify the listing before checkout
- Confirm the item is the M4 Mac mini, not an M4 Pro or older-generation model.
- Check that the selected variation explicitly lists 24GB unified memory and a 512GB SSD. A different variation can show a lower price.
- Review the seller, item condition (new, refurbished or used), delivery estimate and return terms.
- Confirm the final checkout price, including tax, and check any coverage options directly with Apple or the seller.
A lower price is not comparable if it applies to a different configuration, condition or seller. The original deal report covered several Mac mini configurations, so check the selected variation rather than relying on the page headline.

Verdict
At $869.99, the 24GB/512GB M4 Mac mini was a compelling historical Black Friday price if you needed the extra memory and storage and already owned a display and peripherals. That offer dates to November 21, 2025. Without a verified current Amazon listing, treat it as a past deal, not a live saving; choose the base model for lighter workloads or the M4 Pro when sustained performance and Thunderbolt 5 matter more.
