Samsung announced the Galaxy A17 5G and Galaxy Tab A11+ for the U.S. on December 30, 2025. The phone went on sale January 7, 2026, with a launch price of $199.99; the tablet followed on January 8, starting at $249.99. Those are launch prices, not guaranteed current prices: Samsung’s later U.S. listings show different prices depending on the model, storage, connectivity and promotions.

Samsung’s U.S. announcement gives the launch dates, starting prices and core specifications. The dates and prices here refer to the United States; other markets may have different configurations and schedules.
Galaxy A17 5G: price and availability
The Galaxy A17 5G launched in the U.S. at $199.99 for a configuration with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage. Samsung announced Black, Blue and Gray color options. A microSD card can add up to 2TB of expandable storage, which is separate from the phone’s built-in 128GB.
Samsung said the phone would be available nationwide through AT&T, T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile and Verizon, as well as Samsung Experience Stores, retailers and carriers. Availability, color selection and carrier offers can vary. Samsung’s buy page stated that a charger is not included, so account for a compatible charger if you need one.

The $199.99 figure is the launch price, not necessarily what you will pay now. A Samsung buy-page listing showed the unlocked phone at $249.99, while Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP file listed the 128GB unlocked model at $199.99. Check the current Samsung listing for the selected color and checkout price; stock and promotions can change.
Galaxy A17 5G specifications and practical trade-offs
The A17’s 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display runs at up to 90Hz. Samsung lists a 6.7-inch full-rectangle diagonal, or 6.5 inches when measured around the rounded corners. The phone measures 164.4 × 77.9 × 7.5mm and weighs 192g. Its front glass is Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, and its rear cover is glass-fiber-reinforced polymer.
Cameras
The rear camera system has a 50MP main camera with autofocus and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The front camera is 13MP, and video recording goes up to 1080p at 30 frames per second. OIS is the standout detail: it helps counter small movements when taking photos and recording video. It does not, by itself, establish image quality comparable to a more expensive phone.

Performance, connectivity and software support
The phone uses Samsung’s Exynos 1330 processor and launched at the Android 15 and One UI 7.0 platform level. Its U.S. configuration has 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It supports sub-6GHz 5G and Wi-Fi 5, and has a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Samsung promises six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. These are separate support commitments; the six-year security promise should not be read as a specific final patch date without a device-specific schedule. Samsung also lists Circle to Search and Gemini features. Availability can depend on software, account, language, region and internet access.
Battery, charging and protection
The 5,000mAh battery supports 25W wired charging. Samsung says the phone can reach up to 50% charge in 30 minutes under its stated conditions; actual charging time depends on factors such as the charger, cable, temperature and battery level. The charger is sold separately.

The A17 has an IP54 rating. That means limited protection against dust and splashes under laboratory conditions—not waterproofing or protection for immersion, pool or beach use. The rating is useful everyday reassurance, but it is not a reason to expose the phone to water deliberately.

The Tab A11+ went on sale in the U.S. on January 8, 2026, with Samsung’s announcement giving a starting price of $249.99. That launch starting price should not be confused with the current price of every storage and connectivity version.
Samsung’s current U.S. product page lists Wi-Fi configurations with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage or 8GB and 256GB, in Gray and Silver. The page showed the Wi-Fi model starting at $299.99 before trade-in; Samsung’s June 2026 MSRP file lists $299.99 for the 128GB Wi-Fi model and $379.99 for the 256GB one.

A separate 5G model is available through major carriers. Samsung’s 5G product listing was for 6GB/128GB, with a listed price of $329.99 and a promotional price of $279.99 at the time reflected in the research. Promotions and carrier terms can change. The cellular version is not simply an included feature of every Tab A11+: check that the selected model says 5G and confirm whether a carrier plan or activation is needed.

Galaxy Tab A11+ specifications and limitations
The tablet has an 11-inch TFT LCD with 1920 × 1200 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 90Hz. Samsung lists brightness at 480 nits. Its metal, all-aluminum body measures 257.1 × 168.7 × 6.9mm and weighs 477g. The tablet has a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C 2.0, Bluetooth 5.3 and four speakers with Dolby Atmos.

The MediaTek MT8775 is an octa-core processor with listed CPU speeds of 2.5GHz and 2GHz. Configurations are 6GB RAM/128GB storage and 8GB/256GB, with microSD expansion up to 2TB. It launched with Android 16 according to Samsung’s U.S. specification table.
Samsung lists Circle to Search, Gemini, DeX Standalone Edition, Samsung Notes and Math Solver among the tablet’s features. Those tools make it more flexible than a basic streaming screen, but do not make it a high-end Galaxy Tab S model. In particular, Samsung says the Tab A11+ is not compatible with the S Pen, so it is a poor choice if pen-based handwriting or drawing is a requirement. The display is TFT LCD, not AMOLED.
Samsung lists IP52 protection for the tablet. As with the phone’s rating, this should not be taken to mean it can be immersed in water. The tablet’s 7,040mAh battery supports 25W charging. Samsung estimates up to 15 hours of video playback under its test conditions and says it charges 1.6 times faster than the Galaxy Tab A9+. These are Samsung claims, not guarantees of mixed-use runtime or a universal charging result: brightness, refresh rate, video, apps and cellular use affect battery life. The charger is sold separately.

Which one should you consider?
- Consider the Galaxy A17 5G if you need an affordable 5G phone and value a Super AMOLED screen, OIS on the main camera, expandable storage, IP54 protection and a long software-support commitment. Its 4GB RAM/128GB U.S. configuration and separate charger are important compromises to weigh against the price.
- Consider the Tab A11+ Wi-Fi for streaming, family use, casual gaming, schoolwork and light productivity on a larger screen. The 90Hz display, four speakers, headphone jack and storage tiers are practical strengths; the LCD and lack of S Pen support matter if you want richer display contrast or handwriting input.
- Consider the Tab A11+ 5G if you need the tablet to connect away from Wi-Fi and are comfortable with the extra device cost and any data-plan requirements. If your phone’s hotspot is enough, the Wi-Fi model may be the more economical fit.
For either device, compare the actual checkout price for the precise configuration—not just the announcement’s starting price. For the tablet, check Wi-Fi versus 5G and 128GB versus 256GB; for both, factor in any charger, case or cellular plan you will need. Samsung’s product pages can show different prices by model, color, location, promotion and trade-in eligibility.
