Intel’s four-Xe3-core Panther Lake integrated GPU reportedly outscored AMD’s Radeon 840M by 26.3% in an early Geekbench Vulkan result. The score is promising, but it comes from a Core Ultra 7 366H engineering sample and does not establish a universal 26% gaming advantage.
The reported result
Wccftech reported an early Geekbench Vulkan result for Intel’s Core Ultra 7 366H, a Panther Lake engineering-sample processor with a four-Xe3-core integrated GPU. The Intel system scored 22,813, while the cited Radeon 840M result scored 18,060.
| GPU | Geekbench Vulkan score | Context |
|---|---|---|
| Panther Lake, 4 Xe3 cores | 22,813 | Core Ultra 7 366H engineering sample |
| Radeon 840M | 18,060 | Reported comparison result |
| Radeon 860M | 37,552 | Higher-tier comparison in the same reported chart |
| Mobile GTX 1050 Ti | 21,937 | Synthetic Vulkan comparison only |
The percentage is calculated against the Radeon 840M score:

That makes the accurate claim: the four-Xe3 Panther Lake configuration scored approximately 26.3% higher than the cited Radeon 840M result in this Geekbench Vulkan comparison. It would be misleading to say that Panther Lake is simply 26% faster than Radeon 840M in all games or applications.

What the benchmark does—and does not—prove
Geekbench Vulkan measures performance in a specific synthetic workload. A 26.3% lead may indicate stronger shader throughput or favorable driver and compiler behavior for Vulkan. It could translate into gains in some Vulkan games and GPU-accelerated workloads.
However, the result does not establish:
- Average gaming performance across a broad test suite.
- DirectX 12, OpenCL, video-editing, or emulation performance.
- Battery life, fan noise, or sustained performance.
- Performance at an identical power limit, memory configuration, and cooling capacity.
- Retail driver maturity or final firmware behavior.
The chip was an engineering sample, so clock behavior, firmware, drivers, and power management could change before commercial laptops ship. The comparison also was not a controlled same-laptop test between Radeon 840M and Panther Lake.

Why Radeon 840M comparisons vary
Radeon 840M is an entry-level integrated GPU used in lower-power AMD mobile processors. Like Panther Lake graphics, it shares system memory with the CPU. Its performance depends heavily on whether the laptop uses fast LPDDR5 or LPDDR5X memory, dual-channel operation, the processor’s configured power limit, cooling, firmware, drivers, and the benchmark version.
Two laptops carrying the same Radeon 840M—or the same Panther Lake processor—can therefore perform differently. Integrated graphics are particularly sensitive to memory bandwidth and sustained thermal limits.
Four Xe3 cores are not all of Panther Lake
Xe3 is Intel’s newer graphics architecture family associated with Panther Lake. Panther Lake graphics are commonly described as Xe3-LPG, with reports pointing to multiple configurations, including roughly two, four, 10, and 12 Xe3 cores.

The four-core GPU in the Core Ultra 7 366H result is an entry-level or mainstream configuration. It should not be confused with larger 10- or 12-Xe3 variants, which target a substantially higher performance tier. Nor should it be treated as representative of every laptop marketed under the Panther Lake or Core Ultra Series 3 names.

The listed game results show why a synthetic lead should not be converted directly into a gaming guarantee. One Core Ultra 7 355 system reached about 48.8 frames per second in ARC Raiders at 1080p Low, but about 23.5 fps at Medium and 17.5 fps at High. Listed F1 25 results range from approximately 59.8 to 65.5 fps at 1080p Low across systems, with lower performance at higher presets.
These are useful indicators of what four-Xe3-class integrated graphics may deliver, but they are not controlled Radeon 840M comparisons. Laptop power limits, cooling, memory, drivers, and game settings differ. Ray-traced and ultra-quality settings are generally unsuitable for this class of integrated GPU.

What buyers should check
- Exact processor: “Panther Lake” alone does not identify the GPU configuration.
- Xe3-core count: Four cores are not equivalent to 10- or 12-core variants.
- Memory: Check capacity, speed, and channel configuration.
- Power and cooling: Sustained limits matter more than a short benchmark burst.
- Display: A 1080p panel is a more realistic match than a high-resolution screen for integrated graphics.
- Game-specific tests: Prefer results using the same game, driver, resolution, and preset.
- Price and alternatives: Compare the complete laptop against Radeon 840M- and Radeon 860M-class systems, not just the processor name.
Verdict
The leaked result is good news for Intel’s mainstream integrated graphics: a four-Xe3 Panther Lake GPU appears capable of beating the cited Radeon 840M score in Geekbench Vulkan by about 26.3%. But it is still one synthetic result from an engineering sample. It does not prove a universal gaming lead, matching battery life, or superiority over larger AMD or Panther Lake graphics configurations.
For laptop buyers, Xe3 is a promising feature—not a purchasing decision by itself. Verify the exact GPU configuration, memory, power limit, cooling, display, real game benchmarks, and price before choosing a system.
