Rogers’ reported July 2025 plan change did two things at once: it removed 25GB of included data from several advertised plans and raised each listed price by $5 per month. The affected examples changed from 125GB to 100GB, 200GB to 175GB, and 275GB to 250GB.
Those figures are historical July 2025 pricing, not Rogers’ current public lineup. A separate $5 wireless rate adjustment was also identified for July 15, 2026, so the two events should not be confused.
What Rogers changed in July 2025
MobileSyrup reported on July 9, 2025, that Rogers removed a 25GB data bonus from several listed plans and increased their advertised monthly prices by $5. The change was therefore more than a straightforward price increase: customers received less high-speed data at a higher listed rate.

The reported prices included a $10-per-month automatic-payment discount. They should not be compared with prices shown before Auto-Pay, bundling discounts, promotional credits, taxes, or device financing.

How much value was removed?
- Monthly price: $5 higher.
- Annual price: $60 higher before tax over 12 full months.
- Data allowance: 25GB lower each month.
The reduction was largest proportionally on the 125GB plan: 100GB is 20% less data. The 200GB plan fell by 12.5%, while the 275GB plan fell by approximately 9.1%.

These are simple comparisons of advertised price and allowance. They do not measure coverage, speed, roaming value, network congestion, or the amount of data an individual customer actually uses.
Did existing Rogers customers lose 25GB?
Not necessarily. The available July 2025 reporting establishes a change to several listed plans; it does not prove that every existing Rogers customer was automatically migrated from an old allowance to a lower one.

Your treatment may depend on whether you were:
- a new customer activating after the revised lineup appeared;
- an existing customer who voluntarily changed plans;
- on a grandfathered plan that Rogers continued to honour;
- receiving a time-limited promotion or bonus;
- on an employee, partner, retention, or other account-specific offer; or
- later affected by the separate 2026 rate adjustment.
“Bonus data” also does not, by itself, establish the precise contractual treatment. The allowance may have been a permanent plan feature, a promotion, or a benefit with separate terms. Check your customer agreement, Critical Information Summary, or written offer rather than assuming that every Rogers customer had identical conditions.
Rogers says you can view your current plan in MyRogers. Be careful before changing anything: Rogers warns that a previous plan may no longer be available if you leave it.
What was included besides data?
The reported plans retained or offered other benefits depending on the tier. These included 5G access, Canada-wide service, Canada/U.S. or Canada/U.S./Mexico coverage, international calling or texting allowances, Rogers Red credit-card-related benefits, selected Sportsnet+ promotions, and roaming discounts on the highest tier.
Those features were not necessarily universal or permanent. Confirm the exact terms attached to your account, especially for promotional entertainment benefits, roaming, international use, and credit-card eligibility.

The separate $5 increase in 2026
The July 2025 plan redesign is separate from a later wireless rate adjustment. In a June 23, 2026 letter, the CRTC said Rogers had notified mobile customers through billing statements of a $5-per-month “Wireless Plan Rate Adjustment” intended to begin July 15, 2026.
- July 9, 2025: Rogers’ reported listed plans lost 25GB and rose by $5.
- April 21, 2026: Rogers announced a new 5G+ plan family, including a tier with a five-year price guarantee.
- June 23, 2026: The CRTC asked Rogers questions about the separate $5 rate adjustment.
- July 15, 2026: The date identified for the later adjustment.
The CRTC letter was a request for information and compliance clarification, not a final finding that Rogers’ 2026 charge was unlawful. It also raised questions about whether the charge was being applied during commitment periods and whether it formed part of the minimum monthly charge.
Rogers’ public plans are different now
As of August 2026, Rogers’ public BYOD plans page shows a newer 5G+ structure rather than establishing that the 2025 100GB, 175GB, and 250GB listings are still available.

Prices and inclusions depend on factors such as Auto-Pay, bundling, line count, eligibility, and promotions. Current benefits may include U.S. or broader roaming, Rogers Satellite promotions, StreamSaver, and Uber One, depending on the tier. Do not treat the current lineup as a continuation of the historical July 2025 table.

How to check whether your bill changed
- Open MyRogers and record the exact plan name and included data allowance.
- Compare recent bills, including the monthly wireless service fee before and after the change.
- Look for a line or notice labelled Wireless Plan Rate Adjustment.
- Check whether an Auto-Pay discount, bundle credit, device credit, or promotional credit changed.
- Separate the service price from device financing, Save & Return amounts, taxes, roaming, overages, and other charges.
- Check whether your U.S., Mexico, or international benefits remain included.
Rogers’ guide to wireless bill charges explains that service fees, device payments, credits, and other items can appear in different bill sections. A plan change can also create partial charges and credits because wireless service is billed in advance.
What to do if the bill is higher
Before accepting a new plan or switching providers, ask Rogers to identify exactly what changed. Use this wording: “Was my 25GB difference caused by a plan migration, an expired promotion, or a new plan price? Please provide the applicable customer agreement or Key Order Information Details.”
Then:
- Save an old bill, agreement, and screenshots of the current MyRogers plan.
- Ask whether your existing plan can be retained, restored, or replaced with a retention offer.
- Compare the total bill, not just the headline service price.
- Confirm how changing plans affects device credits, Save & Return obligations, and promotional benefits.
- If you switch, verify the remaining device balance, number portability, and roaming requirements.
- Escalate unresolved issues through Rogers’ formal complaint process and, where appropriate, the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services.
Rogers says that changing a wireless price plan does not extend or change the existing term, but that does not erase separate device-financing or promotion obligations. Its plan-term guidance should be read alongside your own agreement.

Staying may be sensible if you:
- regularly use U.S. or Mexico coverage;
- receive a valuable bundle, device, or retention credit;
- need Rogers coverage in your home, workplace, or travel areas;
- use enough data that a lower allowance could cause reduced speeds or extra costs; or
- are on a plan with a meaningful price guarantee.
Downgrading or switching may be sensible if you:
- regularly use far less than 100GB;
- do not need North American roaming;
- do not use included perks;
- have multiple lines affected by the increase; and
- can leave without losing device credits or creating a costly device balance.
Canada/U.S./Mexico plans can be valuable for frequent or extended travel because Rogers says included talk, text, and data work in the covered countries without daily roaming fees. Occasional travellers may pay less with Roam Like Home or a travel pass, depending on their trips.

Do not assume a fixed-term device agreement freezes the wireless service price. At the same time, do not assume that leaving is cost-free: check financing, Save & Return, credits, taxes, activation costs, and any roaming replacement before porting your number.
If your increase is not exactly $5
A larger increase can result from more than one affected line, lost Auto-Pay or bundle discounts, expired credits, device-financing changes, taxes, roaming, overages, or prorated charges after a plan change.
If you see only a $5 increase and no 25GB reduction, you may have retained an old allowance, had a bonus expire earlier, been on an unaffected plan, or be seeing the separate 2026 rate adjustment. Compare the plan details and bill notices line by line before drawing a conclusion.
