Yes—but with an important qualification: WindowBlinds 11.0.1.0 added a built-in Windows Classic skin that makes Windows 10 and Windows 11 look like the Windows 95 era. It does not run Windows 95, emulate its software, or replace the modern operating system.
The update was released in December 2022, so “now” is historical rather than a current 2026 announcement. The Windows Classic theme was included with WindowBlinds at no separate theme charge.
What the WindowBlinds update added
Stardock’s WindowBlinds 11 update introduced a built-in Windows Classic skin designed to evoke the visual style of older Windows releases, particularly Windows 95. Contemporary reporting identified the build as WindowBlinds 11.0.1.0 and listed “Added Windows Classic Skin” as its main change. Neowin reported the version number and changelog, while Stardock announced the Windows Classic theme.
The update also included improvements involving Fences 4 and the process for choosing themes during installation. The broader WindowBlinds 11 release added features such as automatic dark mode, improved high-DPI support for newer skins, an in-app skin browser, taskbar-widget support, and support for File Explorer tabs. What it changes—and what it does not
WindowBlinds is a visual customization utility. Depending on the skin and the application, it can alter:
- Window frames and title bars
- Minimize, maximize, and close buttons
- Fonts, colors, and transparency
- Taskbar styling
- Some Start-menu and shell appearance
- Other supported desktop-interface elements
That can produce a convincing Windows 95-style desktop, but the underlying system remains Windows 10 or Windows 11. Settings, Windows Update, security features, system services, notifications, drivers, and modern system behavior are not transformed into their Windows 95 equivalents.
It is therefore inaccurate to call this an emulator, virtual machine, compatibility layer, or copy of the original Windows 95 operating system. The theme does not include the original Windows 95 kernel, applications, drivers, performance characteristics, or software compatibility.
How faithful is the Windows Classic look?
Stardock describes the skin as a faithful replication of the previous Windows experience. That should be understood as a visual-design claim, not as a one-to-one recreation of the operating system.

Classic-looking title bars, controls, colors, and layout conventions can make the desktop feel recognizably retro. However, results vary by display scaling, monitor resolution, application, and Windows shell component. Modern applications may draw their own interface and retain a contemporary appearance. High-DPI displays, dark-mode settings, Explorer views, and applications with custom controls can also produce visual differences.
A Windows 95-style skin can change how supported elements look without restoring Windows 95’s original limitations, responsiveness, bugs, or behavior.
The Start menu is the main limitation
WindowBlinds and Start11 cover different parts of the Windows interface. WindowBlinds provides the broad visual skinning, while Stardock says that pairing the Windows Classic theme with Start11 can provide a more complete classic treatment for the Start menu, taskbar, and window frames.

How to install or find the theme
WindowBlinds 11 was announced for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Stardock’s documented routes for obtaining the Windows Classic skin are:
- Install WindowBlinds 11 or open your existing installation.
- Use WindowBlinds’ own update-checking option.
- If the update is not offered, download the updated build from your Stardock account dashboard.
- Open WindowBlinds and select Windows Classic from the available skins.
- Apply the skin, then check the desktop, title bars, Explorer, taskbar, and the applications you use most.
The theme itself was included as a default WindowBlinds option and did not have a separate theme charge. WindowBlinds, however, is commercial software. Stardock’s original November 2022 announcement listed a $19.99 launch price for up to five devices and a $9.99 upgrade price for existing owners; those were historical launch prices, not confirmed 2026 pricing.
Stardock’s current catalog continues to list WindowBlinds 11 for Windows 10 and Windows 11, but compatibility with every future Windows build should not be assumed automatically.

What to do if the skin is missing or behaves oddly
The Windows Classic option is not present
Check for updates inside WindowBlinds. If that does not work, sign in to the Stardock dashboard and download the updated installer or build. The relevant historical update was identified as version 11.0.1.0.

Only some parts of Windows look classic
This usually reflects the boundary between WindowBlinds, Start11, Windows components, and individual applications. If the Start menu is the main element that remains modern, review Start11 separately rather than assuming the WindowBlinds skin failed.
Controls look blurry or incorrectly scaled
Check Windows display scaling and the skin’s high-DPI behavior. Legacy-style artwork may not look as sharp as modern interface elements on a high-resolution display, and different applications can respond differently.
An application becomes difficult to use
Switch temporarily to the default Windows style and test the application again. If the problem disappears, it is likely related to the skin or the application’s custom interface. Update WindowBlinds before deciding whether to keep the theme enabled.
You need to undo the change
Reopen WindowBlinds and switch to the default Windows style or another installed skin. If necessary, disable WindowBlinds from starting automatically while troubleshooting. Users making major shell customizations may also create a Windows restore point as a general rollback precaution.

WindowBlinds alone, Start11, or Object Desktop?

WindowBlinds also connects users with additional skins through Stardock’s marketplace and WinCustomize. Stardock says thousands of additional skins are available, although individual community-created items may have their own licensing or pricing.
Is it worth using?
It is a good fit for nostalgia projects, retro-themed desktops, and users who want classic-looking controls while retaining the security and software base of Windows 10 or 11. It is also much less disruptive than replacing the operating system.
It is a poor fit if you need genuine Windows 95 software compatibility, expect every modern application to look retro, use a managed business computer that restricts shell customization, or value maximum simplicity over visual customization. Future Windows updates can also affect third-party shell-customization tools, so permanent compatibility should not be promised.

The accurate modern description is simple: WindowBlinds 11 added a Windows 95-style visual theme for Windows 10 and Windows 11 in December 2022. It recreates the look—not the operating system.
