Yes, CapCut currently offers a genuine 7-day CapCut Pro free trial—but only to eligible users in selected countries and regions. CapCut generally requires version 8.20 or later, and users who have previously subscribed to Pro or used a prior trial may not qualify. The trial can become an automatically renewing paid subscription, so check the renewal date and cancellation method before accepting the offer.
The most reliable eligibility test is simple: sign in to CapCut, open the Pro upgrade screen, and look for a Free Trial or Start Free Trial badge. If it is not shown, do not assume the trial is available for your account.
Is CapCut Pro free?
CapCut has a free tier that can be used without starting a trial, but CapCut Pro is not permanently free. Pro unlocks additional templates, effects, fonts, stickers, AI tools, cloud storage and some export capabilities.
There are four different kinds of “free CapCut” access that are often confused:

- Referral rewards: A promotion that can provide up to ten 7-day rewards—up to 70 days total—when qualifying new users join through invitations.
- Beta or temporary access: Selected features may be free temporarily, particularly in CapCut’s iPad beta. This is not permanent Pro membership.

Who is eligible for the CapCut trial?
You are most likely to qualify when all of these conditions apply:
- The offer is available in your country or region.
- Your CapCut app is version 8.20 or later.
- Your account has not previously subscribed to CapCut Pro or used an earlier trial, according to CapCut’s eligibility rules.
- The Pro subscription screen actually displays the trial badge.
- Your Apple App Store, Google Play or web account can complete the subscription checkout.
Eligibility can differ between web, desktop, iPhone, Android and iPad. A trial shown on one device is not proof that the same offer is available on another device or under another account.

The trial is intended to provide access to CapCut Pro features and materials. Depending on your platform, region, account, plan and current product configuration, that may include:

- Some watermark-related or premium export features.
Do not treat this list as a guarantee that every Pro feature will be available in every trial. CapCut says feature availability and limits can vary. A Pro badge on an individual asset or export setting is the best indication of what your account can use.
How to check whether you qualify
- Update CapCut to version 8.20 or later.
- Sign in to the CapCut account you intend to use.
- Open the profile, account or Pro upgrade area.
- Look for Free Trial, Start Free Trial or similar wording.
- Before confirming, read the trial length, renewal date, renewal price and billing frequency.
The live checkout page is more authoritative than an old screenshot, a third-party offer or a price quoted in an outdated article. Also check that the screen says “free for seven days,” rather than describing a discounted first month or year.
How to start the CapCut free trial
CapCut Web
- Sign in to CapCut Online.
- Open your profile or account area.
- Select Upgrade or the equivalent Pro control.
- Choose the plan carrying the free-trial offer.
- Review the renewal terms and confirm the subscription.
CapCut Desktop
- Install or update CapCut Desktop.
- Sign in to the correct CapCut account.
- Open your profile page and select Join Pro or the equivalent upgrade control.
- Choose the plan marked with the 7-day trial.
- Complete checkout. Desktop may redirect you to CapCut Web to finish setup.
Labels can differ between Windows, macOS and app versions.
iPhone and iPad
- Update CapCut from the App Store.
- Open the profile or personal-account area.
- Select Join CapCut Pro, Join Standard or the equivalent membership option.
- Switch to the Pro offer if necessary.
- Select the plan with the 7-day trial and confirm through Apple.
Android
- Update CapCut through Google Play.
- Open CapCut’s profile or account area.
- Select the Pro membership or upgrade option.
- Choose the plan displaying the trial.
- Confirm through Google Play.
Is a payment method required?
Do not assume the trial is available without payment details. The requirement can depend on the platform and checkout implementation. The subscription screen may request a card, PayPal account, Apple payment method or Google Play payment method.

Before accepting, record:
- The date the seven-day period ends.
- The date automatic billing begins.
- The renewal price shown for your region and platform.
- Whether the plan renews monthly or annually.
- Whether the offer is genuinely free or only discounted.
Will CapCut charge you after the trial?
Treat the trial as an automatically renewing subscription unless the checkout screen explicitly says otherwise. CapCut’s terms of service say automatically renewable Premium Services renew for another subscription period unless canceled in time.
Pricing is not safely summarized as one universal number. CapCut says plans and prices can vary by region, platform, plan and offer, and may change. Use the amount shown in your own checkout screen rather than relying on an old price.
Cancel before the displayed renewal date if you do not want to pay. Deleting CapCut does not reliably cancel a subscription.

Cancel through the provider that billed you. The correct route depends on where you started the subscription.

Web subscription
- Sign in to your CapCut account.
- Open the subscription, plan or account-management area.
- Find the active Pro plan and choose the cancellation control.
- Confirm cancellation.
- Check that auto-renew is disabled or that the subscription status shows the correct end date.
iPhone or iPad subscription
- Open Settings.
- Tap your Apple ID name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select CapCut.
- Tap Cancel Subscription or the equivalent option and confirm.
Android subscription
- Open Google Play.
- Tap the profile menu.
- Choose Payments & subscriptions.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Select CapCut, then cancel and confirm.
Save the confirmation email or screen and note the displayed end date. If CapCut does not appear in the place you are checking, look for the receipt: it identifies whether Apple, Google or CapCut billed you.
What happens after cancellation?
For an automatically renewing Premium Service, cancellation normally prevents the next renewal while access continues until the current subscription period ends. After that period, the account is generally downgraded to CapCut’s free services. Trial behavior can vary by store, promotion, region and interface, so verify the end date shown after cancellation.

- Your country or store region does not support the offer.
- Your app is below version 8.20.
- The promotion has ended or is being phased out.
- You are checking a different platform from the one where the offer is available.
- The offer applies only to a specific plan, such as an annual plan.
- You are seeing a limited feature promotion rather than a full Pro trial.
- You are signed into a different CapCut, Apple or Google account.
Update the app, sign in to the intended account and check the Pro screen again. If the offer still does not appear, CapCut’s guidance indicates that the account or region may not be eligible. Do not attempt to bypass regional or account restrictions.

Why are some Pro features free on iPad?
CapCut says its iPad version is in beta and that selected Standard or Pro features may temporarily be free during testing. That access is not evidence that CapCut Pro is permanently free on iPad, and it may not apply to CapCut on iPhone, Android, desktop or the web. Can you get a refund?
CapCut’s general terms describe a possible full refund when a subscriber cancels within 14 calendar days of starting Premium Services, provided the subscriber has not used those Premium Services. This is not a universal refund guarantee: local law, store policy, purchase channel and use of Pro features can change the result.
If you were charged:
- Cancel immediately to stop another renewal.
- Save the receipt and cancellation confirmation.
- Request the refund through Apple, Google or CapCut—the same channel that processed the payment.
- Explain if the charge followed a trial and provide the transaction details.
Using a premium asset or exporting with a Pro feature may affect eligibility under CapCut’s stated no-use condition.

For a single locked asset or export setting, test whether replacing that item with a free alternative solves the problem before subscribing.
Best alternatives to the CapCut trial
DaVinci Resolve Free
DaVinci Resolve Free is the stronger choice if you want a substantial desktop editor without a recurring subscription. It combines editing, color correction, visual effects, motion graphics and audio tools. The trade-off is a steeper learning curve and potentially higher hardware demands. Blackmagic’s U.S. page also lists DaVinci Resolve Studio at $295, but pricing and availability should be checked on the current official page.
Adobe Premiere
Adobe Premiere offers a separate 7-day trial and is a better fit for users already working in Adobe’s ecosystem or needing a professional editing workflow. Adobe says the trial converts to a paid Creative Cloud single-app membership unless canceled, so it carries the same need to record the renewal date and cancellation terms.
Which option should you choose?
- Choose CapCut’s trial for fast, template-driven social videos, mobile editing, captions, effects and AI-assisted creation—provided the trial appears on your account.
- Choose CapCut Free if you want the familiar workflow without subscription renewal risk and can work around locked Pro assets.
- Choose DaVinci Resolve Free for long-form projects, serious color and audio work, or a no-subscription desktop editor.
- Choose Premiere if Adobe integration and a professional subscription workflow matter more than a permanently free option.
If the CapCut trial is missing, do not force the decision: use CapCut’s free tier or try DaVinci Resolve Free instead. If you do start the trial for one project, record the renewal date before editing and cancel through the correct billing provider if you do not intend to continue.
