Yes—some Android phones can wirelessly charge another phone, earbuds case, or compatible accessory. The feature is called reverse wireless charging, and manufacturers give it different names: Samsung calls it Wireless PowerShare, while Google Pixel calls it Battery Share.
It only works when the sending phone has the required hardware and software, and the receiving device normally needs Qi wireless charging. This is an emergency top-up rather than a replacement for a USB-C cable or dedicated power bank: wireless power transfer is slower, less efficient, and more sensitive to alignment and heat.
What “using your phone as a wireless power bank” means
A conventional wireless power bank is a separate battery pack that charges your phone. Reverse wireless charging works in the opposite direction: your phone’s battery sends power outward through its wireless charging coil.
The feature may appear in your phone’s software as reverse wireless charging, wireless power sharing, reverse charge, or battery share. Ordinary wireless charging and reverse wireless charging are not the same thing. A phone that can receive Qi charging cannot automatically transmit power to another device.

Which phones support reverse wireless charging?

For the definitive answer, verify your exact model in the manufacturer’s support documentation. Carrier editions, regional models, hardware revisions, and newer generations can differ.
Samsung Galaxy
Samsung’s current U.S. support documentation covers Wireless PowerShare on supported Galaxy S-series phones, including the Galaxy S10 series and later supported models, Galaxy Note10 and Note20 families, supported Galaxy Fold and Z Fold models, Z Flip models listed by Samsung, and the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra. Samsung’s list also identifies devices that cannot use the feature, including Galaxy A-series, XCover-series, and Galaxy Tab devices that do not support wireless charging.
Samsung says most compatible Qi devices can receive power, but it specifically lists Galaxy Watch7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra as exceptions. Check the current Samsung Wireless PowerShare compatibility and instructions before relying on a particular phone or watch.

Google’s Battery Share support page currently lists the Pixel 5, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, Pixel 8 and 8 Pro, and Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The feature is not listed for Pixel 10 models on that page, so do not assume that a newer Pixel supports it. Secondary reporting has attributed the change to the Pixel 10’s physical charging design; treat that explanation as reported context rather than a universal manufacturer statement.
Google describes Battery Share as working with Qi-certified phones and accessories such as Pixel Buds. See Google’s Battery Share instructions for the current model list and conditions.
iPhone
Do not treat modern iPhones as general-purpose wireless power banks. Apple’s documented, practical options are different:

- iPhone 15 and later can charge some accessories through a USB-C cable.
- A separate MagSafe or Qi2 battery is the normal wireless portable-charging solution.
- Some Apple battery accessories can interact with an iPhone in ways that should not be confused with a general reverse-wireless-charging mode.
How to use Samsung Wireless PowerShare
- Charge the Galaxy phone to at least 30%.
- Swipe down from the top-right edge to open Quick Settings.
- Tap Wireless PowerShare.
- If the control is missing, edit Quick Settings and add it.
- Place the receiving device back-to-back with the Galaxy phone.
- Move it slightly until the charging animation or notification appears.
- Separate the devices when you want to stop sharing power.
Samsung says Wireless PowerShare turns off automatically after 60 seconds if it does not detect a receiving device. Samsung also documents using a Galaxy phone connected to a charging cable while sharing power, but this is not the normal emergency setup and may depend on the model and configuration.

How to use Google Pixel Battery Share
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery.
- Tap Battery Share.
- Turn on Use Battery Share or the equivalent control shown on your Pixel.
- Place the Qi-compatible receiving device on the back of the phone.
- Adjust its position until the Pixel indicates that power is being shared.
Pixel lets you choose the battery level at which Battery Share stops, from 10% to 50%. You can also add Battery Share to Quick Settings for faster access. Google says Battery Share stops when no device is detected for 30 seconds, when the receiver is full, when the Pixel becomes too hot, when power transmission is poor, or when Battery Saver turns on.
On Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL, Google also says Battery Share stops when a wired charger is connected.
How to find the feature on other Android phones
Android manufacturers do not use one universal label or menu. Open Settings and search for each of these terms:

If you find a matching control, enable it and follow the phone’s on-screen instructions. You may also find the control in Quick Settings.

How to position the devices
Place the sending phone face down and the receiving phone or accessory face up, with their wireless charging coils aligned. On many phones, the coil is near the center of the rear panel, but the exact location varies.
- Remove thick cases from both devices.
- Remove magnetic rings, wallets, PopSockets, and metal plates.
- Put the receiver centrally on the back of the sending phone.
- Shift or rotate it a few millimeters if charging does not begin.
- Keep both devices flat and still.
- Look for a charging icon, vibration, sound, or notification before walking away.
Google specifically advises removing metallic or magnetic attachments, including MagSafe accessories, PopSockets, and ring holders. They can interfere with alignment and power transfer.
What can your phone charge?
Reverse wireless charging is most useful with:
- Qi-enabled smartphones.
- Wireless-charging earbud cases.
- Some Qi-compatible accessories.
- Some smartwatches, though watch support is more restricted.
“Qi-compatible” does not guarantee that every accessory will work. The receiving coil must align correctly, and proprietary watches may require a particular charger or charging arrangement. Test the specific accessory rather than assuming that a phone, earbuds case, or watch will all behave alike.
How much charge should you expect?
Expect an emergency top-up, not a full recharge. A practical result may be enough for an emergency call, a short navigation session, or earbuds—but the percentage increase varies substantially.
Performance depends on:
- The battery level of the sending phone.
- The receiving device’s battery size and charging behavior.
- Coil alignment.
- Case thickness and materials.
- Temperature.
- The wireless charging protocols used by both devices.
- Whether either device is being used during charging.
Do not transfer the phone’s incoming wireless-charging wattage to its reverse-charging output. Outgoing power varies by model, receiver, temperature, and software. Wireless transfer also loses more energy as heat than a direct USB-C connection.
Troubleshooting reverse wireless charging
The Wireless PowerShare or Battery Share option is missing
Possible causes include an unsupported model, a hidden Quick Settings control, a low battery, an active power-saving mode, or a charging configuration that disables sharing.

- Search Settings for “Battery Share” and “Wireless PowerShare.”
- Check the exact model on the manufacturer’s support page.
- Charge the sending phone.
- Turn off Battery Saver or another power-saving mode.
- Disconnect chargers and accessories.
- Restart the phone and check for system updates.
The receiver does not charge
- Remove both cases.
- Remove magnetic accessories and metal plates.
- Confirm that the receiver supports Qi.
- Center the receiver on the sending phone.
- Shift or rotate it slightly to locate the coil.
- Keep both devices still.
- Try a known-compatible Qi accessory.
If Qi earbuds charge but a particular watch does not, the watch may use a proprietary charging system or be excluded by the phone maker.
Charging starts and then stops
The sending phone may have reached its cutoff level, overheated, detected poor transmission, or lost alignment. The receiver may also be full, drawing power inconsistently, or causing Battery Saver to activate.
Let both devices cool, remove their cases, reposition the receiver, and check the sending phone’s battery-share cutoff. On Pixel, also check whether Battery Saver is active. On Samsung, remember that the feature times out after 60 seconds without a detected device; on Pixel, the no-device timeout is 30 seconds.
Charging is extremely slow
Slow charging is normal for this feature. Improve it by removing cases, aligning the coils, stopping demanding apps, and keeping both devices still. If speed matters, use a USB-C cable instead.
The phone becomes hot
Stop charging if either device becomes uncomfortably hot. A phone using reverse wireless charging is discharging its battery while also transmitting power, which creates additional heat. Do not use the feature beneath bedding, in direct sunlight, or inside a hot vehicle.

Choose a cable when the receiving phone needs a substantial recharge, the sending phone is already low, the devices cannot remain aligned, or the receiver does not support Qi. A standalone power bank is the better long-term solution for travel and repeated charging.

Alternatives when reverse charging is unavailable
A conventional USB-C power bank is usually the most broadly useful option. It is less sensitive to cases and positioning, works with nonmagnetic phones, generally wastes less energy than wireless transfer, and can charge faster with the right USB Power Delivery output.
A magnetic Qi2 or MagSafe power bank is convenient for compatible iPhones and Qi2 phones. For example, Anker’s MagGo Power Bank 10K Slim is a Qi2-based 10,000-mAh model advertised with up to 15W wireless charging. Magnetic attachment and performance still depend on the phone and case.
Belkin’s BoostCharge Pro Magnetic Power Bank with Qi2 15W offers an integrated kickstand, USB-C charging, and selectable 5,000-, 8,000-, and 10,000-mAh variants on its product page. Belkin says Samsung devices are compatible through USB-C, while wireless alignment may be unreliable and can interfere with cameras—an important warning for Samsung buyers.

Product prices and availability change, so compare the current manufacturer listing rather than relying on an old price. Also remember that a power bank’s stated capacity is its internal battery capacity, not a promise that the same number of milliamp-hours will reach your phone.
Is reverse wireless charging bad for the battery?
Occasional use is intended as a convenience feature, but it is not the most battery-efficient way to share power. It drains the sending phone and can create heat. Use it when the convenience matters, stop if the phone becomes hot, and prefer a cable or dedicated power bank for regular, high-volume charging.
Bottom line
Check whether your exact Android model has Wireless PowerShare, Battery Share, or another reverse-charging control. Enable it, remove magnetic or metal accessories, align the two Qi coils, and expect a modest emergency top-up. If the setting is absent—or you need speed, capacity, or reliable charging while moving—a USB-C cable or standalone power bank is the better choice.
