What counts as an AI PC?
AI PC is a broad marketing term. It generally describes a laptop with a processor containing a neural processing unit, or NPU, for selected AI workloads. It does not guarantee a particular Windows feature set.
A Copilot+ PC is narrower. Microsoft describes the category as Windows 11 hardware with an NPU capable of more than 40 trillion operations per second, or TOPS. Microsoft also lists at least 16GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and Windows 11 version 24H2 or newer among its requirements. Feature availability can vary by model, region, Windows edition, and updates.
A Copilot key, access to Windows Copilot, or the ability to use ChatGPT in a browser does not prove that a laptop is a Copilot+ PC. Check the exact SKU against Microsoft’s Copilot+ device directory or the manufacturer’s specifications.

Which platform should you choose?
Apple silicon: best for macOS users
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models generally offer quiet operation, strong efficiency, and access to Apple’s software ecosystem. Choose one if you already use macOS or need Apple Intelligence on a Mac.

Do not choose Apple silicon if you require Windows-only enterprise, engineering, peripheral, or gaming software without a reliable macOS alternative. Memory and storage are normally selected at purchase rather than upgraded later.
The historical roundup included M3 MacBook Air and M4 MacBook Pro configurations. Label these as Apple Intelligence laptops, not Copilot+ PCs.
Qualcomm Snapdragon X: best for battery-focused productivity
Snapdragon X systems such as the HP OmniBook X, ASUS Vivobook S 15, Dell XPS 13, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, and Surface Laptop 7 can be attractive for travel, office work, web use, and video calls.
They run Windows on Arm. Many conventional applications work through native support or emulation, but check compatibility before buying if you depend on older programs, specialist plug-ins, printer or scanner drivers, VPN and security clients, virtual machines, developer tools, or games with anti-cheat systems. They are not the safe default for demanding gaming or legacy x86 software.
Microsoft identifies several Snapdragon systems as Copilot+ hardware in its developer guidance.

Intel Core Ultra: best for traditional Windows compatibility
Intel Core Ultra 200V laptops provide a conventional Windows platform and may combine an NPU with integrated Intel Arc graphics. The ASUS ExpertBook P5, ASUS Vivobook S14, ASUS Zenbook S14, Dell XPS 13, and Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition appeared in the historical list.
Check the precise processor and configuration: Core Ultra 5, 7, and 9 systems can differ substantially in performance, battery life, graphics, display, and price. Integrated graphics remain unsuitable for serious gaming or GPU-heavy local AI compared with a dedicated GPU.
AMD Ryzen AI: strong performance and integrated graphics
Ryzen AI 300-series laptops can offer strong multicore performance and capable Radeon integrated graphics. They may qualify for Copilot+ features when the exact processor and system meet Microsoft’s requirements.
Do not assume that every processor carrying an “AI” label qualifies. Verify the NPU capability, operating system, RAM, storage, and exact model. AMD is often a better fit than Snapdragon for buyers who want conventional Windows compatibility and stronger integrated graphics.
Best historical deals by budget
Under $600: ASUS Vivobook S 15
The $499 Snapdragon X Plus configuration was the standout value of the 2024 roundup and carried the maximum advertised $400 saving. It was attractive for basic productivity and battery-focused use, but its Arm compatibility made it a poor choice for specialized legacy software and serious gaming.

Under $800: HP OmniBook X
The historical $799 Snapdragon X Elite configuration offered a stronger Copilot+ platform than the budget Vivobook. It was a sensible productivity option if the buyer prioritized battery potential and accepted Windows-on-Arm limitations.
Under $1,000: compare the whole configuration
The historical choices included the Acer Swift 14 AI, MacBook Air M3, Dell XPS 13 Snapdragon, Surface Pro 11, Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x, ASUS ExpertBook P5, and Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition. At this price, display quality, RAM, SSD capacity, included accessories, and return policy could matter more than the processor name.
Above $1,000: prioritize the workload
The ASUS Zenbook S 14 and MacBook Pro 14 M4 targeted premium portability and creative productivity. Higher-end MacBook Pro M4 Pro and M4 Max models were aimed at sustained professional workloads. For local AI, compare RAM, GPU performance, cooling, and software support rather than NPU TOPS alone.

- Students: prioritize 16GB RAM, a 512GB SSD, a comfortable keyboard, webcam quality, and easy returns. Snapdragon is suitable if required school applications support Windows on Arm.
- Office work and travel: Snapdragon X is compelling for battery-focused users; Intel and AMD are safer when application compatibility is uncertain.
- Business: check Windows Pro, security and manageability tools, docking, repairability, warranty, and enterprise support. The ExpertBook and EliteBook families are more relevant than a consumer AI label.
- Creators: choose 32GB RAM and 1TB storage where possible. For video, 3D, or GPU-accelerated AI, a discrete GPU may matter more than the NPU.
- Gaming: prioritize a discrete GPU, cooling, GPU wattage, refresh rate, game compatibility, and anti-cheat support. Do not buy a thin Snapdragon or integrated-graphics laptop for demanding games merely because it has an NPU.
- Local AI experimentation: look for 32GB or more RAM, at least 1TB storage, sustained cooling, and software support for the relevant GPU or NPU framework. A higher TOPS number does not guarantee faster results in every application.
- 2-in-1 use: verify what is included. Surface Pro listings may exclude the keyboard and pen, changing the real purchase price.
How to verify a Cyber Monday deal
- Match the exact SKU. Confirm processor, RAM, SSD, display, graphics, operating system edition, and color if relevant.
- Confirm Copilot+ status. Check for Windows 11, an NPU above 40 TOPS, at least 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, and inclusion in Microsoft’s directory or the manufacturer’s Copilot+ documentation.
- Check the price basis. Record the current price, reference price, calculated saving, retailer, and date and time checked. A “was” price may be a list price rather than a recent market price.
- Check condition and seller. Separate new, refurbished, and open-box products. On marketplaces, confirm that the seller is the retailer or an authorized seller.
- Read the return policy. Look for membership requirements, restocking fees, shipping restrictions, holiday return deadlines, and exclusions for opened devices.
- Calculate the usable total. Add a Surface keyboard, pen, dock, charger, or required storage if those items are not included.
Use a status label such as Live and verified, Limited stock, Price changed, Sold out, or Historical example. Retailer inventory can change without notice.

Use Microsoft’s Copilot+ directory for category validation, then compare the exact configuration at the manufacturer and major retailers. Manufacturer stores include Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, ASUS, Acer, and Microsoft Surface.
Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, and B&H may offer better holiday pricing, but verify the seller, exact SKU, condition, shipping, and return terms. Do not assume a manufacturer’s “buy” button is the lowest-priced option.

The original $499 ASUS Vivobook S 15 and $799 HP OmniBook X were notable 2024 bargains, but they are not current 2026 deal recommendations. For a future Cyber Monday purchase, choose Snapdragon X for battery-focused everyday work, Intel or AMD for broader traditional Windows compatibility, Apple silicon for macOS and Apple Intelligence, and a discrete-GPU laptop for serious gaming or GPU-heavy local AI. Most importantly, verify the exact configuration and Copilot+ status before paying.
