EVGA ended its Nvidia graphics-card partnership on September 16, 2022, and said it would not make Nvidia’s next-generation cards. That meant no retail EVGA GeForce RTX 40-series lineup, even though the company reportedly built engineering samples of an RTX 4090. EVGA said it would keep supporting existing products; its warranty and support pages remain online. As of August 18, 2026, its official product navigation lists non-GPU products rather than a current GeForce card range.
What EVGA announced—and when
EVGA’s announcement was more than a decision to skip a particular graphics-card model. The company said it was ending its relationship with Nvidia and would not carry Nvidia’s next-generation graphics cards. It also said it would continue supporting existing products. Gamers Nexus reported on the announcement and interviewed EVGA CEO Andrew Han; Phoronix covered the distinction between ending new GPU plans and continuing current-generation support.
- September 16, 2022: EVGA announced the split.
- September 20, 2022: Nvidia announced its GeForce RTX 40 series, the imminent next generation EVGA had declined to make. Nvidia’s RTX 40-series page provides the product-generation context.
- After the announcement: EVGA continued selling existing-generation products while inventory lasted and said it would support existing cards. This did not mean every RTX 30-series card vanished or lost support on announcement day. TechPowerUp summarized the cancellation and remaining-stock context.
EVGA did not release a retail RTX 40-series card. It also did not announce a move to AMD Radeon or Intel Arc graphics; its stated plan was to leave the GPU business, not switch chip suppliers. That is a description of the announced plan, not proof that EVGA could never return.

In the Gamers Nexus interview, Han described problems with communication, late access to important product and pricing information, pressure on margins, and a deteriorating relationship. He characterized Nvidia’s treatment of EVGA as disrespectful. Those are EVGA’s account and Han’s characterization, not independently adjudicated findings. Nvidia’s public response was brief and did not concede those allegations. Ars Technica covered the split and Nvidia’s response.

The choice was consequential. Contemporary reporting put GeForce GPUs at about 80% of EVGA’s revenue; that figure was reported at the time, not presented as a current audited financial statement. EVGA was walking away from a major part of its business, rather than abandoning a minor product line. The company framed the decision as a business and relationship issue, not simply dissatisfaction with one generation of cards.
The RTX 4090 that never reached stores
Gamers Nexus reported that EVGA had produced roughly 20 engineering samples of an RTX 4090 FTW3 design, and that the project was cancelled before mass production. It also reported that other active projects, including a Kingpin-branded card, were stopped. These were reported engineering projects—not a completed retail product, a launch-ready card, or evidence that EVGA had an RTX 4090 for sale.

What the split means for EVGA graphics-card owners
EVGA said it would continue supporting existing-generation products. The split did not automatically void the warranty on a card already in a customer’s hands. Actual coverage depends on the card and its applicable terms, which can vary by product, suffix, purchase date, region, purchaser status, registration and sales channel. Check the current EVGA graphics-card warranty information and contact EVGA support about the specific serial number and situation; do not assume every card has the same warranty duration or transferability.

If you need service, follow EVGA’s current instructions and obtain an RMA authorization before sending hardware. Keep the original proof of purchase if you have it. Because EVGA no longer produces new GeForce cards, replacement inventory for a particular model may be limited; the exact replacement outcome is governed by the applicable policy, not a guarantee of identical hardware indefinitely.

Should you buy a used EVGA GPU?
A used EVGA card can still make sense if the model, condition and price work for you, but treat it as a legacy product rather than a current-production card. A historic reputation for support is not a substitute for checking the coverage attached to the individual card.
- Identify the exact model and serial number. Confirm that the listing describes the card you will receive.
- Ask for the original invoice. Purchase documentation can matter when verifying eligibility.
- Check coverage before paying. Review EVGA’s warranty terms and ask support about the specific card, region and second-hand purchase. Do not assume warranty transferability.
- Evaluate the card on its merits. Consider condition, performance needs, return rights and the possibility that a future replacement may not be the same model.
- Compare the total risk-adjusted price. Do not pay a large premium solely for the EVGA name or assume replacement stock will remain available.
Is EVGA still operating, and what does it make?
EVGA has not disappeared. As of August 18, 2026, its official support site remains active, and its product navigation lists categories including power supplies, motherboards, keyboards and mice, capture devices, cooling products and software. It does not show a current GeForce graphics-card line. That supports the conclusion that EVGA has not returned to mainstream Nvidia GPU production; the site alone does not establish that the company can never re-enter the market.

EVGA also continues to publish power-supply warranty information. Terms vary by model and suffix, with listed durations ranging from 90 days to as long as 10 years for certain models. Check the specific power-supply warranty terms rather than applying one duration to every unit. If pairing an older EVGA PSU with a newer GPU, verify capacity, connector requirements and compatibility for the exact components.

What to compare when replacing an EVGA graphics card
There is no universal “new EVGA.” Board partners and Nvidia’s own Founders Edition differ by model, cooling design, warranty policy and regional service. Compare the particular cards available to you rather than choosing by brand name alone.

Official product catalogs can help identify current options, but do not establish a universal price or warranty comparison: Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090, MSI’s RTX 5090 store, ASUS graphics cards and Zotac’s GeForce RTX 50-series store. Availability, prices and terms vary by model, retailer, date and region.
