Best bet: look for an unlocked, inspected 128GB iPhone 11 for about $175–$205, with at least 85% battery health and a clear return period. In 2026, the iPhone 11 is mainly a used or refurbished purchase, not a regular new-phone deal from Apple. Skip listings that do not clearly state Activation Lock status, carrier lock, battery condition, warranty, and returns.
iPhone 11 price benchmarks
Swappa’s marketplace data, updated July 31, 2026, puts the overall average at about $186, with listings starting around $98. These are marketplace averages—not guaranteed prices or a promise that the cheapest listing is a good buy. Condition, battery, seller, and lock status can change the real value considerably. Use these as negotiating and comparison points, not live offers. Prices and inventory change quickly, and a low search-result price may have conditions, trade-in requirements, or a different configuration at checkout. Compare the total delivered cost and the listing’s exact terms.
What counts as a good deal?
These are practical price targets inferred from the marketplace snapshot, not official prices:

- Unlocked 64GB: about $130–$150 is excellent if battery health is at least 85% and returns are allowed; $150–$175 is generally fair. Above roughly $225 is poor value unless condition, battery, warranty, or included items are unusually strong.
- Unlocked 128GB: target about $175–$205, adjusting for battery, condition, and warranty. This is the best balance for most buyers.
- Unlocked 256GB: about $200–$230 can make sense, but supply is thinner and prices less predictable. Avoid a large premium over a comparable 128GB model.
Be especially cautious below $100. The phone may be carrier-locked, damaged, blacklisted, have a weak battery, or come with restrictive terms. A carrier-model price can be reasonable if you already use that carrier and have confirmed compatibility and unlock status.
Best pick for most people: unlocked 128GB
128GB avoids much of the space pressure of 64GB without paying for the less common 256GB version. It is the sensible choice for someone who takes photos, keeps messaging attachments, downloads apps, or plans to use the phone for more than a short time. If a 256GB listing costs only a little more and is otherwise comparable, the extra storage may be worthwhile.
Choose 64GB for a child, backup phone, or light user who streams media and is comfortable managing storage or using iCloud. Photos and video can fill 64GB quickly, so the lowest sticker price may become a false economy. A $25–$40 premium for 128GB is often easier to justify than constant storage cleanup.

Where to shop—and what the marketplace label means
- Swappa: useful for price discovery and comparing individual seller listings. Review seller ratings, actual-device photos, battery percentage, unlock status, inspection information, warranty, and returns. It is less suitable if you want to avoid evaluating seller-specific terms. Check current listings and benchmarks.
- Best Buy: pre-owned and refurbished iPhone 11 stock has appeared, including unlocked models. Check the exact product page for seller, condition, warranty, and return terms; third-party offers can differ from the retailer’s own standards. Example product listing.
- Walmart Marketplace: offers can cover several storage capacities, but many are from marketplace sellers. Confirm who sells and fulfills the phone, the actual battery policy, warranty provider, and return terms. A battery minimum stated on one listing does not apply to every Walmart offer. - Apple: Apple is useful for official specifications, repair, and buyer checks, but is not the likely source of an ordinary new iPhone 11 deal in 2026. Apple’s current carrier-offer page is for current iPhone purchases, not an iPhone 11 offer.
“Refurbished” is not one universal quality grade. Manufacturer-refurbished, retailer-certified, seller-refurbished, and used/pre-owned units can have different inspections, parts, battery standards, warranties, and return policies. Read the terms for the specific phone rather than relying on the label.
Before you buy: check lock status and seller terms
Do not accept an iPhone that remains linked to its previous owner. Apple says a used phone should be erased and reach the Hello setup screen; do not take ownership if it displays “iPhone Locked to Owner” or asks for the previous owner’s Apple Account. Have the seller remove it from Find My and verify setup yourself. A screenshot is not enough. Apple’s Activation Lock guidance.
If you want an unlocked phone, check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock. The desired result is “No SIM restrictions.” Apple cannot unlock a phone; the carrier must do so. “GSM unlocked,” carrier-compatible, and factory unlocked are not necessarily interchangeable claims. Ask the seller to confirm in writing that the device is not financed, blacklisted, or subject to an unpaid balance. Confirm the exact model and intended carrier as well. US model A2111 supports many LTE bands and eSIM, but international models can differ; carrier policies, VoLTE, and eSIM availability also matter. Battery health and repair history matter more than scuffs
For a used phone, battery condition can turn a bargain into an added expense. As practical buying guidance, 90% or higher is excellent; 85–89% is generally acceptable; 80–84% is worth considering only with a strong discount or warranty; below 80%, factor in replacement cost and inconvenience. These are editorial thresholds, not Apple purchase standards.
Ask for the actual percentage, not just “good battery” or a minimum guarantee. Check Settings → Battery → Battery Health & Charging. Then look at Settings → General → About → Parts and Service History. On iPhone 11, this can provide battery and display repair information, with labels such as Genuine, Used, or Unknown Part depending on the repair. A high reported percentage alone does not prove the battery is genuine or that its health reading is accurate; Apple warns that unverified batteries may report inaccurately. Before paying, establish the battery minimum or actual condition, whether the battery is genuine, the cosmetic grade, Face ID and camera functionality, return window, warranty provider and duration, and whether return shipping or restocking fees apply.

- Used/pre-owned: often the lowest price, but inspect condition, parts, battery, and seller protection carefully.
- Retailer-certified refurbished: may offer inspection and a warranty, but the process varies by retailer and marketplace seller.
- Seller-refurbished: standards vary widely. Require clear parts, battery, warranty, and return disclosures.
- Manufacturer-refurbished: can provide stronger assurance when genuinely refurbished by the manufacturer, though availability for this older model may be limited.
- New old stock: uncommon and not automatically better. An unused phone can have an aged battery, uncertain activation history, or unclear warranty.
Pay for verified condition and protection—not a label or sealed box alone. Likewise, a bare phone can be a good deal if you already own a suitable Lightning cable and adapter. The iPhone 11 supports Qi wireless charging; fast charging requires a 20W-or-higher adapter, sold separately. It remains a capable low-cost iPhone for basic use. It has the A13 Bionic chip, Face ID, wireless charging, Wi‑Fi 6, dual cameras, and a 6.1-inch LCD display. Apple’s current compatibility information lists iPhone 11 for iOS 26.5. That confirms current compatibility, not how many more major iOS versions it will receive or that every feature is available on it. Apple’s iOS compatibility information.

The trade-offs are substantial: it is a 2019 model, has LTE rather than 5G, uses an LCD rather than OLED display, and most units have years of use behind them. Battery replacement may be needed. If a comparable iPhone 12 or newer costs only modestly more, compare the total price and condition before choosing the 11; newer hardware may be a better long-term purchase. Do not buy the 11 on the assumption that its future software support is guaranteed.
Water resistance should not influence a used-phone decision. Apple tested the iPhone 11 to an IP68 rating under controlled conditions, but resistance can decrease with wear, and liquid damage is not covered by warranty. - Get a stated battery percentage or minimum and ask about battery authenticity and repair history.
- Confirm Activation Lock will be removed and the phone can be set up with your account.
- Read the return period, warranty provider, exclusions, return-shipping costs, and seller identity.
- Look for any required carrier activation, trade-in, installment, or membership condition behind the advertised price.
During the return window:
- Verify Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock and confirm “No SIM restrictions” if you bought unlocked.
- Complete setup; stop if the previous owner’s credentials are requested.
- Check battery health and Parts and Service History.
- Test Face ID, both rear cameras, flash, front camera, video, the full touchscreen, speakers, microphones, vibration, buttons, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and charging.
- Use your intended carrier’s SIM or eSIM to make a call and test mobile data.
- Watch for overheating, random restarts, weak reception, or interrupted charging; confirm storage matches the listing and keep packaging until testing is complete.
