ASUS has introduced the USB-BE93 Mini, a compact USB-C adapter that adds tri-band Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to supported Windows PCs. It supports 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz networks, carries a nominal BE6500 rating, and includes 4096-QAM and WPA3 support. The key limitations are equally important: it is currently positioned for Windows 10 and Windows 11, needs a compatible Wi-Fi 7 router to deliver its newest features, and its tiny internal antenna and USB 3.x interface mean the BE6500 label is not a promise of 6.5Gbps real-world internet speed.

What is the ASUS USB-BE93 Mini?
The USB-BE93 Mini is an external wireless network adapter for computers that need a Wi-Fi upgrade without opening the chassis. It connects through USB-C and is designed to remain relatively unobtrusive on a laptop, mini PC, or desktop.

ASUS positions it as a plug-and-play upgrade with a built-in driver. Its compact enclosure uses internal antennas rather than the larger external antenna assemblies found on performance-focused USB adapters. That makes it convenient and low-profile, but it also leaves less flexibility for repositioning the antenna away from a desktop’s metal chassis or other sources of interference.

What does BE6500 mean?
BE6500 is a wireless product-class designation, not a guaranteed single-client transfer speed. “BE” identifies Wi-Fi 7 equipment, while “6500” refers to the approximate combined nominal link rates available across the supported bands.
That combined figure should not be read as “this adapter downloads at 6.5Gbps.” Actual throughput depends on the router, channel width, signal strength, interference, client configuration, operating system, network backhaul, and the speed of the internet connection or local storage involved.

IT Home estimated a possible band arrangement of approximately 688Mbps on 2.4GHz, 2,882Mbps on 5GHz, and 2,882Mbps on 6GHz. That is an estimate rather than an ASUS-confirmed band-by-band specification. Read the IT Home report
Why Wi-Fi 7 and 6GHz matter
Wi-Fi 7 can provide higher theoretical link rates and more efficient operation than older Wi-Fi generations. The USB-BE93 Mini also supports the 6GHz band, which can offer access to less congested spectrum in suitable environments.

However, the adapter does not create Wi-Fi 7 capabilities by itself. To use Wi-Fi 7-specific features, the computer must connect to a compatible Wi-Fi 7 router or access point. With a Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 router, the adapter will operate using the capabilities that network supports, and the upgrade may offer little practical benefit over a cheaper Wi-Fi 6 adapter.
6GHz access is also conditional. Availability depends on the country or regulatory domain, local spectrum rules, router firmware, channel selection, indoor or outdoor restrictions, and driver behavior. A buyer can therefore own a tri-band adapter and still connect primarily through 5GHz or 2.4GHz.

ASUS describes the port as USB 3.0 Type-C. Secondary coverage identifies the connection as USB 3.2 Gen 1, commonly associated with a 5Gbps theoretical interface ceiling. That is substantially below the combined nominal BE6500 wireless rating even before accounting for protocol overhead and other system limitations.
This does not make the adapter unusable. It means the BE6500 number should be treated as a wireless link-class label rather than an expected file-transfer or internet speed. A fast local transfer also requires a capable router, network switch, storage device, and second endpoint. For internet use, the broadband connection may be the limiting factor long before the wireless link is.
Compatibility: Windows first, USB-C does not mean universal support
ASUS lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 as the supported operating systems. USB-C describes the physical connector; it does not guarantee driver support on every device.

The currently documented support position is unfavorable for Mac users. In an ASUS Answers response surfaced on Best Buy’s listing, ASUS said the adapter does not work with a 2019 MacBook Air because macOS drivers are not provided. Treat the USB-BE93 Mini as a Windows-only product unless ASUS publishes broader support.

ASUS markets the adapter around USB-C. A USB-C-to-USB-A adapter may be physically possible, but ASUS does not establish that every such setup will provide guaranteed compatibility, power behavior, mechanical clearance, or full performance. Buyers with only USB-A ports should confirm support before purchasing.
How to install it on Windows
ASUS describes the USB-BE93 Mini as plug-and-play with a built-in driver. On a supported Windows computer:
- Connect the adapter directly to a USB-C port.
- Allow Windows time to detect the device.
- Open the available Wi-Fi networks and connect to the desired network.
- If it is not detected, check Device Manager for an unknown network device and run Windows Update.
- Try another USB-C port, preferably one connected directly to the motherboard rather than through a hub or dock.
- Install the latest ASUS driver if one is provided on the product support page, then restart Windows if necessary.
If the adapter works on one supported Windows computer but not another, the problem may be the port, a hub, a device conflict, power behavior, or the operating-system installation rather than the wireless network.

Compact design versus range
The USB-BE93 Mini’s main advantage is its size. Best Buy’s imagery identifies dimensions of approximately 32mm × 18.5mm × 10mm, making it far less obtrusive than many USB adapters with external antennas or a separate desktop cradle.
The trade-off is placement flexibility. Internal antennas cannot be angled or moved away from a metal desktop chassis unless the user adds a compatible extension arrangement. A larger adapter with a cable or external antennas may offer better positioning and potentially better range or stability, especially when the computer is several rooms away from the router.
That is a design consideration, not a controlled performance verdict. No independent benchmark evidence was surfaced for range, latency, sustained throughput, temperature, or power consumption. One Best Buy customer reported approximately 500–600Mbps on a home network, but that is a single anecdotal result and cannot establish expected performance.
Who should consider the USB-BE93 Mini?
The adapter makes the most sense for:
- A Windows desktop that lacks built-in wireless networking.
- A mini PC with weak or unreliable internal Wi-Fi.
- A laptop with a failed internal Wi-Fi card.
- A computer that cannot conveniently accept an internal M.2 or PCIe wireless card.
- A Windows user with a Wi-Fi 7 router who specifically wants 6GHz access through USB-C.
- Someone who values a low-profile design more than maximum range.
It is a weaker choice for a modern laptop that already has reliable Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, a Mac owner, a system without USB-C, or anyone whose main need is long-distance coverage through walls. It is also difficult to justify over a cheaper Wi-Fi 6 or 6E adapter when the existing router does not support Wi-Fi 7.
Price and alternatives
Best Buy listed the ASUS USB-BE93 Mini at $79.99 in the United States on August 18, 2026. Retail prices and availability can change.

Other retailer listings surfaced in the same product ecosystem included the ASUS USB-BE92 Nano at $69.99, the ASUS ROG USB-BE92 at $99.99, the TP-Link Archer TBE6500U at a $69.99 sale price, and the NETGEAR Nighthawk A9000 at $89.99. These prices are snapshots, and the available evidence does not establish enough verified detail to make a full specification comparison among those models.
A cheaper Wi-Fi 6 adapter, such as the TP-Link AX1800 Nano listed at $49.99, may be the more sensible choice for users with a Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 router, sub-gigabit internet service, or no need for 6GHz. It will not provide Wi-Fi 7 or 6GHz capability, but that may not matter for the intended network.
Common problems and fixes
The adapter is not detected
Use another direct USB-C port, restart Windows, check Device Manager, run Windows Update, and install the latest ASUS driver if available. Disconnect other high-bandwidth USB devices temporarily and test the adapter on another supported Windows computer. Hubs and docks can introduce bandwidth, power, driver, or signal-integrity problems.

The Wi-Fi 7 or 6GHz network does not appear
Confirm that the router supports Wi-Fi 7 and that 6GHz is enabled. Check the router’s channel and regulatory settings, then confirm that Windows and the driver expose the 6GHz band. The adapter may simply be connected to 5GHz, or the selected channel may not be available in the local region.
Performance is below expectations
Check the router’s location, signal strength, channel congestion, and WAN speed. Remember that 6GHz generally has shorter effective range than 2.4GHz, while the mini adapter’s internal antenna offers less positioning flexibility than a larger design. Also account for the USB interface, protocol overhead, and the capabilities of the other endpoint in a local transfer.
Verdict
The ASUS USB-BE93 Mini is an interesting option for Windows 10 and 11 users who need a small, native USB-C Wi-Fi 7 adapter. Its tri-band support, 6GHz capability, WPA3, and compact design make it more than a basic replacement dongle.
At the same time, it is not a universal USB-C networking solution or a guaranteed 6.5Gbps internet upgrade. Its value depends on having a compatible Wi-Fi 7 router, access to 6GHz in the buyer’s region, a supported Windows system, and a preference for compactness over the potentially better placement and range of a larger adapter or internal card. For everyone else, a less expensive Wi-Fi 6 or 6E adapter may be the more rational upgrade.
